Renowned British journalist and television presenter Jeremy Charles Robert Clarkson, commonly known as Jeremy Clarkson, following the confirmation of conservative right-wing activist Charlie Kirk's death in Utah, stated that he is frightened to be a newspaper columnist. The 65-year-old Clarkson, who is also an author and the host of the TV shows The Grand Tour and Top Gear, took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his concern after Charlie Kirk's unfortunate death. Clarkson wrote:

"For the first time in my life, I’m genuinely frightened about being a newspaper columnist."

After which, a user on X suggested that he should focus on writing about cars, to which Jeremy Clarkson responded by saying:

"But what if someone disagrees with my view that, say, the new M5 is a bit dull. Everyone is so angry all the time these days."

Charlie Kirk, who was shot dead while he was speaking at an event at Utah Valley University in Orem on September 10, 2025, was in the middle of a public debate regarding gun violence. While Kirk was widely known for his strong, conservative perspectives, Jeremy Clarkson also holds a reputation for being provocative when it comes to his weekly op-eds for The Sun and The Sunday Times newspapers.

Following Jeremy Clarkson's X post about being scared of sharing his views, the netizens noted that the veteran journalist has frequently used violent imagery in his own writings. While some people took the opportunity to defend Clarkson and his extreme humor, he regretted using harsh language in the past.

Besides Jeremy Clarkson, British broadcaster Piers Morgan spoke out following Charlie Kirk's death

It was not only Jeremy Clarkson who expressed his concern following Charlie Kirk's uncertain death in Utah; even British journalist and broadcaster Piers Morgan spoke out regarding the matter. Morgan said:

"An appalling assault on free speech and democracy. Charlie always welcomed debate, with anyone. This is disgusting, and heart-breaking."

Morgan further added:

"Seeing so many clips/posts of supposedly ‘kind tolerant’ liberals gleefully celebrating Charlie Kirk’s murder. They’re so utterly disgusting."

While a manhunt for Kirk's killer is in progress, President Donald Trump praised Kirk, who was the co-founder of Turning Point USA, a non-profit organization that supports conservative politics in colleges, schools, and universities. Trump hailed Kirk for being "loved and admired by all."
