Jesus Guerrero’s family is breaking their silence in the wake of the celebrity hairstylist's official cause of death being revealed.

Us Weekly has reported that the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed yesterday, June 2, that Jesus Guerrero succumbed to natural causes caused by two separate infections at the age of 34.

His sister, Gris Guerrero, told the outlet that his entire family is “still processing” the revelation.

“I can’t say how we are fully feeling about the whole thing,” she told the outlet on Monday. “We knew some of his symptoms toward the end were pneumonia-like, but there are more factors [which] led to that at the end.”

Jesus Guerrero’s life and legacy explored as Kylie Jenner, JLo, and more, attend his funeral:

Us Weekly has reported that Jesus Guerrero died of "Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia and disseminated Cryptococcus neoformans due to acquired immunodeficiency syndrome." Both of these are fungal infections that can have intense implications for those with already weak immune systems.

“This is so new,” Gris continued, “so we are still processing all the information.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states that "Pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP) is a rare, serious lung infection caused by the fungus Pneumocystis jirovecii." Those infected with PCP typically already have weak immune systems stemming from ailing health or medications.

The CDC states:

Cryptococcosis "a fungal disease caused by breathing in spores from Cryptococcus, a fungus found in the environment. The infection can affect the different parts of the body but usually causes lung or brain infections."

USA Today has reported that per the medical examiner,

"Mr. Guerrero arrived at a local hospital on the afternoon of February 21 after complaints of not feeling well."

He was pronounced dead at 12:48 a.m. on February 22.

Jesus Guerrero was most known for having worked closely with Kylie Jenner. Shortly after his demise, his family launched a GoFundMe to incur his funeral costs, and the initiative ended up raising $96,000.

"He is a son, a brother, an uncle, an artist, a friend, and so much more. Born and raised in Houston, TX to immigrant parents, Jesus learned how to work hard and dreamt of taking his skills to the top," the page read. "Unfortunately, his passing came very suddenly and unexpectedly."

Days after his demise, a source told People Magazine that Jenner was "doing everything she can to be supportive and aid his family, including financially."

"As upset as she feels, she knows it’s so much worse for his family. She doesn’t want them to stress about money. She’s taking care of expenses, including those associated with his funeral.”

On February 25, Jesus Guerrero's sister issued an update on the GoFundMe page that Jenner had since taken care of all their expenses.

"Our family deeply appreciates Kylie for later offering to cover funeral expenses and offering up all her help and support. Donations raised through this fundraiser will go toward the costs associated with securing his belongings at home. As well as other unexpected expenses to settle his assets," the website stated.

His funeral was subsequently held on Sunday, March 30, in Houston, where he grew up. Kylie Jenner, 27; Jennifer Lopez, 55; Chrissy Teigen; and Camila Cabello were among those in attendance, alongside several other prolific figures in the beauty industry.

People Magazine has reported that Katy Perry, who was also close to him, could not make it to the funeral as rehearsals for her tour were ongoing, though she reportedly kept in close contact with his family.

Jesus Guerrero's last works included serving as the hairstylist for Selena Gomez, Demi Moore, Kali Uchis, and Jennifer Lopez. His 2024 portfolio's highlights showcased the long, loose waves he styled for Lisa at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, as well as a straight hairdo for JLo at the Toronto International Film Festival.

In the wake of Jesus Guerrero’s demise, his sister spoke to Us Weekly about the state of her family, noting that they had “so many unanswered questions."

“We have been able to track every one of his steps, but we don’t know what got him sick or what was [the] sickness,” she told the outlet at the time. “It all happened suddenly, and no one knows why.”

She also told the outlet that the family will now move forward after the official cause of death has been explained based "on how we end up settling on all of our feelings.”

“Close friends have been in contact here and there when they think of him,” Gris said of how the family is coping.
