Jimmy Kimmel is honoring his longtime friend Cleto Escobedo's memory by launching two fundraisers. The late-night talk show host, 58, took to Instagram this week to announce the launch of two fundraisers in memory of the Jimmy Kimmel Live! bandleader. Kimmel confirmed earlier this week that his childhood best friend had died at the age of 59. “Cleto was always kind and eager to help others,” Kimmel wrote in a Nov. 14 Instagram post, paired with two photos of Escobedo. “As we mourn his loss, we have started two fundraisers to celebrate his life and give back,” he continued. “The first is for UCLA Medical Center where he received such incredible care. Together we can help vulnerable patients and families in need of financial assistance during hard times.” Jimmy Kimmel also said that the second fundraiser, The Animal Foundation, was launched in order to honor Escobado's “love of animals," adding that it is based “in our hometown of Las Vegas.” He shared the links to both fundraisers in his bio. Cherish your friends and please keep Cleto’s wife, children and parents in your prayers." The Rolling Stone magazine has reported that Escobedo succumbed to cardiogenic shock at UCLA Medical Center. He was being treated for complications related to a liver transplant. In his monologue on Tuesday night, Jimmy Kimmel honored his late friend: “It’s just not fair,” Kimmel said, breaking into tears. “He was the nicest, most humble, kind, and always funny person.” The host added, of the their shared success, “He loved me. He loved seeing all of this happen. He loved being a part of it. He never took it for granted…. He was just a great older brother. No baggage, all love.
