Actor and member of the Performing Arts Community, Joe Don Baker, passed away at the age of 89 on May 7, 2025.
According to Legacy Remembers, the actor retired in 2012, with a long list of acting roles, including Walking Tall, Mitchell, and supporting roles in the James Bond movies. While the reason is unknown, his passing was confirmed through an online obituary, which reads,
"Though Joe Don may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Joe Don touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness."
The heartfelt obituary added,
"In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries."
Additionally, it was announced that his funeral service will be held on May 20 in California, and a burial will be held on the same day at the "Oakwood Memorial Park."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor was married to Maria Dolores Rivero-Torres until their divorce in 1980. The two didn't have any children. He is survived by his family members who live in Groesbeck.
A fan account on X mourned the passing of the actor and wrote,
