Jojo Siwa is trending online for sharing a video of herself cosplaying as Bette Davis as she previews her cover of "Bette Davis Eyes."
In the now-viral video, the reality television star, 22, can be seen sporting the legendary golden curly tresses, a three-tiered pearl necklace, and a frilly sky blue dress as she covered the country crooner's award-winning song.
"After performing this song live and then seeing the beautiful response to it, I decided to go record a studio vocal…. I’m undecided if I should release it on Spotify or not…. Would you want me to?!!!🤍 if you would, I’m thinking maybe end of this week?" the Dance Moms alum captioned the video.
Fans have since begun flocking to the internet, with many accusing her of turning into a "Trad Wife," now that she has openly declared she is straight and is dating Chris Hughes.
Meriam-Webster defines a tradwife as "a married woman who embraces traditional gender roles and values; the word is particularly used for a young woman who chooses to be a homemaker and shares her lifestyle online. It is closely associated with a 2020s social media trend widely viewed as ultraconservative."
As for Jojo Siwa, she used to identify as a lesbian in the past, having come out in 2021. However, following her appearance alongside Hughes on the UK's Big Brother, she now identifies differently. Nonetheless, fans have been slamming her online, such as this one user who penned on X:
"jojo siwa turning into a trad wife as soon as she starts dating a man"
Here's how the rest of X is reacting:
"jojo siwa has singlehandedly set lesbians back 50 years," one user penned.
"jojo siwa is not a barometer for the culture they are a singular odd child of reality tv trauma who is currently on boyfriend island. it has been TWOOO MONTHS. if you want bisexuals to stop being annoying about ‘pressure in the lgbt community’ you need to stop giving them ammo!" another pointed out.
"I have absolutely nothing against queer people, I also have 0 support for [Siwa]. She knows how to use her sexuality for clout and she does exactly that. Like keep your private life private and figure things out, Stop capitalising on it. It makes the LGBTQ comm look unserious," a third user chimed in.
"lmfao i've been scrolling past this video so many times thinking it's just some random lady turns out it's [Siwa] like what's going on here actually," another questioned.
The rest of the internet was also ostensibly baffled:
"i might get shot for this but are we gonna witness jojo siwa tradwife in real time or," one user asked.
"Jojo Siwa catering to the rise of conservatism? A weird switch-up to rebrand," someone else remarked.
"im gonna sound insane rn but im like 100% sure that the entire [Siwa] stuff is proof of the rise of conservatism and i am so scared," yet another noted.
"y'all don't jump me & correct it if i'm wrong but i feel like jojo siwa def have potentials (not her songs), i'm talking abt her voice idk i kinda like it, i think she need to move from this mediocre a** pop & straight to country music, i think her voice kinda fit + add practices," one fan suggested.
The internet is riddled with remarks about the young crooner's latest videos, with one after the other suggesting she's now rebranding.
Explore Jojo Siwa's dating history as the reality television star opens up about dating a boy:
In June, Jojo Siwa spoke to E! News about identifying differently now that she's dating Chris Hughes:
“I think the most beautiful term now is queer,” she told the outlet. “I think queer is an umbrella of, ‘Look, I'm just me.’ And I think the most beautiful thing about the LGBTQIA community is love is love. And that goes both ways.” She added, “There's loads of beautiful, different sexualities. Sexuality and queerness is a lovely rainbow that has all different places, and it also has places on this rainbow that we don't even know exist yet.”
The dancer previously dated the Australian influencer Kath Ebbs, though they have since parted ways.
“I feel so in the right position for myself. I feel so content with my happiness,” she told the outlet. “I feel so relaxed and at ease with where I'm at. I feel so happy and peaceful that the love that I feel is so real. You can't really help who you fall in love with.”
As for how she felt about Chris, she had no doubts in her mind everything was real:
“What I realized with Christopher is I never have second guessed my feelings for him,” JoJo shared. “Therefore, I've never second guessed my happiness, I've never second guessed what I'm feeling. And I think that's the most beautiful thing.” “When I think about him, I'm full of pure joy,” she said. “When I speak about him, I'm full of pure joy.”
Jojo, born Joelle Joanie Siwa, is most known for having worked on the American reality TV series Dance Moms. At the age of 11, she was one of the most famous reality TV stars, and by 15, she was a hit on social media with over 5 million subscribers on YouTube alone. Her pop career was taking off at the time, and as reported by The Guardian, she'd even secured a Nickelodeon deal.
At the age of 17, she came out on social media by sharing a video of herself lip-syncing to Lady Gaga’s Born This Way. In February 2021, she revealed she was dating her friend, Kylie Prew. They'd even moved in together, and though they later broke it off, they are still reportedly "good friends."
She eventually went on to date Katie Mills, Avery Cyrus, and Dakayla Wilson before striking up a romance with Kath Ebbs in January 2025. However, they called it quits during the wrap-up party for Celebrity Big Brother UK, merely months later.
