Karlissa Saffold shares emotional video call with her incarcerated son Blueface after complaining about the rapper’s face tattoos

Blueface has been in custody since January of last year, when he turned himself in due to an alleged probation violation. Over the past several months, his mother, Karlissa Saffold, has used social media to voice her emotional struggles and to stay connected with her son.

Most recently, she posted a clip from one of their video calls on Instagram. That update followed a series of messages she had previously exchanged with the rapper, which she also made public, according to HotNewHipHop. In the texts, Saffold asked Blueface to stop tattooing his face while incarcerated.

"I'm begging you please don't write on your fa fact no more. Wait till you in your right mind again," she told him.

Blueface, however, replied with little hesitation:

"You know I had face tats before I came here right lmao."

"Yo son is a loc get over it," he added.

Karlissa Saffold’s plea for her son Blueface to stop getting face tattoos stirred a wave of reactions online. After she posted their private messages on social media, users were quick to weigh in. Some echoed her concern; others questioned her decision to make their conversation public.

"So hurt he scribbled on his handsome face like that," bad.galkia, commented.

Another, sheree_marren, added,

"I feel sorry for him tbh having a mother post all his business for clout."

Meanwhile, Ev21_21 pointed out the change in Blueface’s appearance, saying:

"Yeah, he had face tattoos before he went in, but they were not looking like that and all over the place."

Blueface at the center as Chrisean Rock and Karlissa Saffold clash with Kehlani

The line between the personal and the public has always been thin in Blueface and Chrisean Rock’s relationship, but in a recent livestream, Rock pushed it even further. Defending herself against criticism about her role in the rapper’s life, she made a strong claim about why he’s still in the spotlight today.

As captured by BET, Rock responded to comments telling her to back off and humble herself. She countered, saying she already had and reminded viewers she still pays the bills.

Then came the statement that sent social media into a frenzy.

“I’m the reason Blue’s at where he’s at now, he was a flop. Y’all need to stop playing with me, yeah, he was who he was… but everybody had the same opportunity I had when I came around him and they ain’t did nothing. I put him back on the map—what did anybody else do?” she shared.

The drama didn’t stop there. Karlissa Saffold also had her opinions regarding the Kehlani drama. According to HotNewHipHop, Saffold took aim at Kehlani after the singer unfollowed Rock on Instagram. Rock had claimed Kehlani told her she had a past with Blueface, something the singer denied.

Still, Saffold had her own words.

“You let Chrisean Rock come to your house on the first meet-up, girl, stop playing with her, stop playing with my son. You cute or whatever, but you ain’t that cute, and you’re desperate and you’re lonely, ‘cause don’t nobody give their home address on the first meet-up. You need to find some friends or somebody to play with,” she shared.

In June 2025, Chrisean Rock revealed she was ready to rekindle her relationship with Blueface, according to HotNewHipHop. But the rapper, who remains incarcerated, didn’t share her sentiment. According to him, he only saw her as the mother of their child and had allowed her to stay in his home because he believed she had nowhere else to go. He added that his focus was on what was best for their son.

Rock, clearly hurt by the statement, fired back with frustration.

“Bro, you don’t even know whats going on,” she said in a video.

“He the only father I see that try to tear down his kid. I’m always with my son…I took off a whole year. My son had all the attention, all the care he needed,” she added.

She went on to challenge the implication that she was unstable or irresponsible.

“What, you want me to pawn my chains next? I’m trying to work, I don’t neglect my son. That’s the crazy thing, and I’m not homeless, what is he talking about?” she shared.
