Britney Spears' former husband, Kevin Federline, in his upcoming memoir You Thought You Knew, claimed that he once saw the pop star snorting cocaine while she was still breastfeeding their two sons, Jayden James and Sean Preston. According to US Weekly, it was after this incident that they ended up in a divorce. After a two-year marriage, Kevin Federline and Spears finally split in 2007.

The 47-year-old Kevin Federline, commonly known as K-Fed, an actor, dancer, and DJ, recalled the time of his 2006 album release party in his memoir, when a breastfeeding Britney Spears showed up instead of staying home with their two sons. Federline, in his memoir, wrote:

"As we reached the top [of the venue], Britney's dad was standing there. I hadn't expected to see him, so I was happy he'd decided to come support me. He threw a look my way, shook his head and motioned to my dressing room door. His expression sat in that flat blank space between disapproval and apprehension, as if to say: 'She's here, and it's not good.'"

Federline, in his memoir, recalled seeing Spears in a room at the release party of his album, along with her agent Jason Trawick and brother Bryan Spears, and an unknown actress snorting cocaine. Kevin Federline wrote:

"The first thing I saw was Britney and her young starlet friend snorting a fat line of coke off the table. Both were wearing these outrageous wigs. Britney's was electric blue. It was surreal. They didn't even try to hide it."

Kevin mentioned that he was shocked to find out Spears was consuming drugs while she was still breastfeeding their children, who were just 13 months and 1 month old at the time. As he confronted Britney regarding the matter, Federline told Spears:

"Please don't go home and breast-feed the kids like this. Call your mom or someone. We need to get formula. You can't do this."

While he reportedly recalled Britney throwing a cocktail in his face, Kevin further added:

"That was the proverbial final straw, the breast-feeding thing. Her reaction. That's what ended us."

Following this incident, both Kevin Federline and Britney Spears sought legal action, reaching out to their respective lawyers to file for divorce. Kevin wrote:

"It all happened so fast. I couldn't even catch my breath."

Spears, on October 15, 2025, took to X (formerly Twitter) and shared a long post slamming Kevin Federline's allegations against her. Britney wrote:

"The constant gaslighting from ex-husband is extremely hurtful and exhausting....Trust me, those white lies in that book, they are going staright to the bank and I am the only one who genuinely gets hurt here."

On October 14, 2025, Britney's representative shared a statement with US Weekly, which read:

"With news from Kevin's book breaking, once again he and others are profiting off her, and sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin. All she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James, and their well-being during this sensationalism."

Federline's book is scheduled to be released on October 21, 2025.
