After years of attempts that never quite hit the mark, Marvel’s First Family is finally stepping into the spotlight, and this time, the MCU is determined to do them justice. Kevin Feige, the mastermind behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe, recently opened up about what makes The Fantastic Four: First Steps so special.

Following Disney’s blockbuster acquisition of Fox, the rights to these legendary heroes have returned home, and Feige calls it “a dream come true.”

Talking to Empire about how the studio has worked tirelessly to make sure the reboot gives the team justice, Feige added,

“When Disney bought Fox, it was really an unexpected dream come true. It came at the perfect time, to help us launch into a new era. They are Marvel’s First Family, and I really wanted to do them justice.”

This isn’t just another reboot. With WandaVision’s Matt Shakman at the helm and a powerhouse cast, including Vanessa Kirby as the Invisible Woman, Pedro Pascal as Mr. Fantastic, Joseph Quinn as the Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing, the film promises to capture the heart and soul of Marvel’s cornerstone family.

Feige is clear on one thing: these four characters aren’t just important, they’re essential to Marvel’s legacy. Embracing the classic 60s retro-future vibes, cosmic energy, and yes, the mighty Galactus in all his helmeted glory, the movie is set to fully honor the comic's roots.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is Marvel’s big, shiny new entry into the MCU, dropping this summer, and the stakes for it are pretty high. This film isn’t just another superhero movie; it’s the much-anticipated debut of Marvel’s original “First Family” in the cinematic universe. Early reviews for the trailer look pretty promising, and the film has the power to restore Marvel to its old glory.

Matt Shakman is directing, and he’s bringing some serious ‘60s retro-futuristic vibes to the story. We follow the Fantastic Four as they step up to face off against the cosmic nightmare Galactus, played by Ralph Ineson, and the Silver Surfer, played by Julia Garner. It’s a wild ride about family, heroism, and saving the planet from total annihilation.

The team has already made an appearance in the mid-credits scene of Thunderbolts* and will be the first film in Marvel's sixth phase. It has also been clarified before that it's a stand-alone film and is not connected to any other superheroes in the MCU, which will change, of course, when the team is a part of Avengers: Doomsday, where all of them are set to reprise their roles.

Fantastic Four: First Steps will hit theaters on 25 July.
