Keyshia Cole apologizes after accidentally announcing Ashanti's alleged pregnancy

Keyshia Cole has reignited baby rumors involving Ashanti and Nelly, who are allegedly expecting their second child together. Cole unintentionally talked about the pregnancy in an appearance on The Breakfast Club.

"Shout out to Ashanti, 'cause I mean, she's amazing, She got a baby, she's pregnant again." She said during the podcast.

Keyshia Cole’s surprise announcement quickly became a viral sensation, fueling more speculation and fan excitement about the couple’s growing family.

In July 2024, Ashanti and Nelly had their first child, a son named Kareem Kenkaide Haynes, after reconciling in the last year. Shortly after the baby's birth, it was reported that the couple had secretly married in December 2023.

According to Yahoo News, the couple, much like they did during Ashanti’s first pregnancy, have held most aspects of their family life private, saying little to nothing in public, and allowing the rumors and gossip to persist.

Witnessing the online uproar and speculations following her statement, Keyshia Cole apologized and stated that she was not aware that the pregnancy hadn't been made public yet.

"My apologies… I shouldn’t have said that. I thought she announced it. If that isn’t true i apologize." She commented on a viral post by Hollywood Unlocked on Instagram.

For her first pregnancy, Ashanti had kept it quiet and out of the spotlight until it became fairly obvious late in the term. Her pregnancy and giving birth were not known by the fans until she released an official statement through a social media post four weeks after giving birth.

Adding to the speculation is the fact that earlier this year, in February, Ashanti said that she would be open to growing her family. In an interview with E! News, she stated that she definitely wanted to have another baby and even admitted that she would like a daughter.

"We’re going to add some more, Definitely a girl to balance it out. I’m outnumbered in the house right now. So, a girl would be great." She said.

Therefore, fans and reports state that Keyshia Cole’s statement does sound in tune with Ashanti’s previous statement on the matter. But, unfortunately, there is also no official context or news to support Cole’s words.

Ashanti and Keyshia Cole’s most recent public outing was when both of them performed at the Verzuz battle. The event, which was first postponed when Ashanti contracted COVID-19 and later by political violence, finally took place on January 21, 2021.
