Among the glowing reviews Netflix's A House of Dynamite is receiving after it's release, King of Horror Stephen King is also joining the shower of praise. The legendary author opened up on watching and enjoying the film, sharing a post on social media about his thoughts on the film.
Taking to X, King posted a tweet, calling the film "terrifiying" and how it mirrors the real world political atmosphere in America. The post read,
A HOUSE OF DYNAMITE (Netflix): Terrifying, especially given the unprincipled, waffling nitwit now occupying the White House...or what remains of it.
Fans continued to agree in the comments section, many talking about the film's parallel to real life events. The political thriller tells the story of the American government staring down at the unthinkable: a single nuclear missile with no confirmed origin.
Director Kathryn Bigelow spoke about the film and what it's about, as she addressed the press conference that was held after the film's premiere. As reported by Tudum, the director said,
“I wanted the view of the film to be trained inward, not outward, and for the audience to lean into the ambiguity at the heart of the nuclear debate: How can we call this defense when the outcome could well be total destruction? The antagonist is the system we’ve built to essentially end the world on a hair trigger.”
As of now, A House of Dynamite has been on the receiving end of a strong audience, as it continues to thrill fans. With a 79% Rotten Tomatoes score and a 75 on Metacritic, it's one of Netflix's strongest debuts this year.
More details about A House of Dynamite
A House of Dynamite comes from writer Noah Oppenheim, with the cast led by Idris Elba, Rebecca Ferguson, Gabriel Basso, Jared Harris and Tracy Letts. The political thriller tracks the chaos, fear and fractures that erupt as the government scrambles to respond to an unidentified enemy.
The story unfolds across multiple timelines within one harrowing morning. In the White House Situation Room, Captain Olivia Walker, played by Ferguson leads her watch team as reports pour in about rising global tension, China’s military drills, Iranian proxy activity, and North Korea’s eerie silence after a missile test. Then, at 9:30 a.m. EST, a U.S. radar detects an unidentified intercontinental ballistic missile over the Pacific, its new trajectory locked on the Chicago metropolitan area. What begins as a presumed North Korean launch spirals into uncertainty, and within minutes, the Situation Room descends into panic.
Filmed in Trenton, New Jersey, the Netflix-backed thriller marks Bigelow’s first feature since Detroit. The ensemble also includes Jason Clarke, Brian Tee, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Willa Fitzgerald, and Brittany O’Grady.
A House of Dynamite is now streaming on Netflix.
