Batman is getting more space in James Gunn's curated DCU. The Brave and The Bold is the forthcoming DC film that is taking a leaf from the namesake DC comic series, which features the Caped Crusader and other superheroes.

Recently, Gunn teased fans about a casting for the film. He hinted at who is playing the Bruce Wayne character in the forthcoming film. Gunn said,

"I know one actor in particular who's a pretty big star that wants to be Batman"

Let us find out the entire statement of Gunn to get an idea of who we might see in the film.

James Gunn speaks up on who is playing Batman in The Brave and The Bold

James Gunn recently spoke to The Ringer-Verse, where he revealed that he has actors in mind to play the Caped Crusader in the DCU and The Brave and The Bold. He said,

"Do I have ideas about actors to play Batman? Absolutely, I do. I have guys I like. I have guys that are at the top of the list, just like I had people that were at the top of the list for Superman. But let me tell you something, they aren't David Corenswet, right? They didn't get the job. People can guess, and maybe they'll be right about certain things. I don't know. I don't know what you're talking about specifically. [It's] totally up in the air."

He added,

"We'd have to screen test, we'd have to do the whole thing. It's unlikely that I'm going to hire someone that's [like] Sylvester Stallone as Batman [where] we're just hiring him. It's unlikely that Batman's going to be one of those guys. But it's possible! I know one actor in particular who's a pretty big star that wants to be Batman. We’ve talked about it, but I'm not sure that’s the case."

The DC Studio co-CEO also revealed that the script is still being written:

"The script isn't done, I mean, we've got somebody writing a script, I think it's really good. But it isn't finished yet."

Gunn kickstarted the new DCU with his recent directorial venture, Superman, which was released on July 11, 2025. A sequel titled Man of Tomorrow has also been announced. It was also the maiden title of DCU's Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, which consists of several projects. They include Clayface and Supergirl, which are set to release on September 11 and June 26, 2026, respectively. Gunn has also announced his plans to make a Wonder Woman reboot film.

Meanwhile, Andy Muschetti will direct The Brave and The Bold, while Gunn, Peter Safran, and Barbara Muschetti will serve as producers.
