Kristen Wiig to play Roboto in Masters of the Universe

Masters of the Universe is the forthcoming superhero film slated to be released on June 5, 2026, by Amazon MGM Studios. Travis Knight is the director, while Chris Butler has written the script. Its official synopsis, as per Letterboxd, reads,

Almost two decades after crashing down to Earth, Prince Adam is whisked back across space to defend his home planet of Eternia against the evil forces of Skeletor. But to defeat such a powerful villain, Prince Adam will first need to uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man: the most powerful man in the Universe.

According to a report in The Hollywood Reporter, Kristen Wiig has been cast in the film.

Kristen Wiig has been cast in the upcoming superhero film Masters of the Universe. She will be voicing the character of Roboto, a warrior made from metal, and is part of the team of Heroic Warriors. The character's body is see-through, which makes sure that all his inner nuts and bolts are visible.

The character's arm can transform into different things, including an axe, a laser, or even a claw. The film's official X handle has stated that the character has traditionally been voiced by men. So Wiig's casting marks a major change in that course.

The film is an adaptation of Mattel's namesake franchise, and is currently in the post-production stage. It's produced by Todd Black, Steve Tisch, Jason Blumenthal, and Robbie Brenner under the banners of Mattel Studios and Escape Artists. The cast members of the film include:
