Lana Del Rey has just proven that she ain’t no candle in the wind as she graced the 2025 Met Gala in a gothic dream of black velvet. The siren, who is deep in her country era, floated across the carpet in a custom Valentino ball gown, embracing this year’s “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” theme. But it wasn’t just the couture that had fans buzzing — she also paid quiet tribute to her husband, Jeremy Dufrene, with a subtle yet meaningful accessory.
On May 5, the Queen of Alternative Pop made an enchanting entrance to The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, where she reunited with Valentino’s creative director Alessandro Michele. The two shared a cheek-kiss moment, showcasing their friendship and marking their second Met Gala collab; the first was in 2018.
Del Rey turned heads with her sweeping, dreamy satin gown. For her makeup, the Bluebird songstress opted for a pure old Hollywood look with winged eyeliner and a nude lip.
Everything screamed very Lana Del Rey-coded, until eagle-eyed fans noticed this intriguing detail. While her chestnut tresses were coiffed, tied in a retro-inspired updo, it featured a gold alligator clip — a nod to her hubby, Jeremy Dufrene, who happens to be an alligator tour guide!

It turns out, the allusion wasn’t all that subtle. A flurry of Lana Del Rey’s fans flocked to X (formerly Twitter) to gush over the alligator clip and its sweet meaning.

“I hope [to] fall in love just like her,” @Lala0531 said.
“SUPPORTING HER HUBBY,” @HellStar222 commented.
“She's just a girl in love,” @505tommo added.
“I'm not judging her, it would be me putting on a teddy bear for my husband,” @alfadethv noted.
Lana Del Rey and Jeremy Dufrene exchanged their wedding vows on September 26, 2024, in Des Allemandes, Louisiana, where Dufrene works as an airboat captain.
Lana Del Rey set the Stagecoach ablaze with a Morgan Wallen revelation
Lana Del Rey’s 2025 Met Gala appearance came just a week after she made a jaw-dropping kiss-and-tell during her Stagecoach set.
Mid-performance, the Diet Mountain Dew hitmaker admitted that she had a romantic moment with the country pop crooner in a verse for her new song 57.5, which she premiered at the festival on April 25.
“I kissed Morgan Wallen. I guess kissing me kind of went to his head. If you want my secret to success, I suggest don’t go ATVing with him when you’re out West.”
She then followed up her line with:
“This is the last time I’m ever gonna say this line.”
