President Donald Trump reignited his long-running feud with late-night television, this time targeting Late Night host Seth Meyers. In a lengthy truth social post shared on Saturday, November 1, he criticized Seth Meyers for mocking his recent trip to Asia. Calling the comedian “the least talented person to "perform" live in the history of television,” the MAGA figurehead said he tuned in to Late Night “for the first time in years.”“In fact, he may be the WORST to perform, live or otherwise. I watched his show the other night for the first time in years. In it he talked needlessly about electric catapults on aircraft carriers which I complain about as not being as good as much less expensive steam catapults,” shared the president.“On and on he went, a truly deranged lunatic, why does NBC waste its time and money on a guy like this??? – NO TALENT, NO RATINGS, 100% ANTI TRUMP, WHICH IS PROBABLY ILLEGAL!!!”Seth Meyers mocks Donald Trump’s catapult comments during Asia trip: View this post on Instagram Instagram PostDuring his recent Asia trip, Donald Trump addressed U.S. troops in Japan and announced plans to bring back steam-powered catapults on Navy aircraft carriers, according to USA Today. “I know a lot about these ships … I want to know (about) catapults, which is better, the electric or the steam? They're spending billions of dollars to build stupid electric …” Trump said, declaring he would sign an executive order to reverse the change.Seth Meyers wasted no time turning that moment into material. “Guy spends more time thinking about catapults than Wile E. Coyote,” Meyers quipped during his Late Night monologue.“Next, he's gonna start complaining about how our troops don't tie themselves to rockets anymore.”Meyers slipped into his trademark Trump impression, saying,“We used to strap our soldiers to the rockets, and they loved it. But then everything got woke, and they said you can't tie a person to a rocket, but we miss those days and we're bringing them back.”As the audience laughed, Meyers doubled down.“Experts say it would cost billions to go back to the old system, but Trump thinks he knows more about aviation than everyone else because he dances like one of those guys that holds the signaling sticks on the runway,” he shared. The President didn’t share the humor. Reports indicated he was less than pleased with Meyers’ take and his over-the-top impersonation.Donald Trump’s Asia tour becomes Seth Meyers’ latest Late Night target:2025 Kering Caring For Women (Image via Getty)Seth Meyers had plenty to say about the president's latest overseas visit. As the president toured Asia, Meyers quipped that he was “getting the royal treatment he so desperately craves,” adding,“He wishes he could get the same treatment back here at home. He made it clear, for example, that he’s super-jealous of China’s authoritarian government.”Trump’s trip included a stop in South Korea, where he told leaders that close ties with the U.S. ensured swift cooperation. “You’ll have everything done very, very quickly … as fast as any other country, other than China,” the self-styled dealmaker said, noting that China “has a good system” because Xi Jinping could “approve things immediately,” while he had to “wait two weeks.” That comment drew laughs on Late Night. “I’m sorry, you have to wait to two weeks?” Meyers said.“I thought you were going to say two years. For the rest of us, two weeks is very fast. Have you ever tried to make a dentist appointment? I chipped a tooth once, and they asked me if I was available to come in December 2027, and I just said ‘f*ck it’ and let the tooth fall out,” shared Meyers.Meyers then took issue with Trump’s remarks about working around Congress. The 47th U.S. President had boasted that he “stuffed the so-called big, beautiful bill to the gills” so he wouldn’t have to return to lawmakers for approval. Meyers pushed back, reminding his audience,“That’s how democracy works. You’re supposed to get the approval of Congress. For example, you can’t just bomb boats wherever the hell you want – that’s illegal and unconstitutional. And that’s not just me saying that. That’s coming from Republicans.”Trump’s feud with late-night TV deepens as Seth Meyers becomes his latest target:Selena Gomez Hosts the Third Annual Rare Impact Fund Benefit (Image via Getty)Trump’s criticism of Seth Meyers came with an added sting, it followed a string of moves that hit other late-night rivals where it hurt. Over the past few months, both Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert found themselves in the businessman-turned-politician's crosshairs, with the president publicly celebrating their professional setbacks. When CBS canceled The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in July, the American president was quick to claim victory. Soon after, he set his sights on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and within weeks, ABC temporarily pulled the program following a controversial remark Kimmel made about the Republican reaction to the killing of activist Charlie Kirk. The show’s six-day suspension came after complaints from major affiliates, including Nexstar and Sinclair Broadcasting Group, and was reportedly supported by Trump’s FCC chair, Brendan Carr. The 47th U.S. President applauded the decision online, writing,“Great News for America: The ratings challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED. Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done. Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that's possible.”For all the noise, Jimmy Kimmel Live! has since returned to its regular schedule .
