Fat Joe claims he jumped to Justin Bieber's rescue when the latter got arrested in 2014 for drag racing in Miami Beach, but the internet is suspicious.
During the latest episode of Joe and Jada, the rapper recalled attending to a call from longtime friend and late Terror Squad member Raul Conde, who informed him that he needed help with bailing the then-19-year-old for what he said was because he was "driving crazy around Miami."
"It wasn't no money. It was nothing," Joe said. "Couple of hundred dollars, a thousand dollars."
Fat Joe claimed they continued to be friends, but their relationship changed when he gave his two cents to the singer. He recounted the latter allegedly informing him that he had become a gangster, which the All the Way Up rapper informed him was a bad idea.
Footage from the segment has since been going online, and fans are expressing disbelief over the encounter. Here's how one user reacted, for instance:
"lie number 897 from fat joe"
Here's how the rest of X is reacting:
"Fat Joe stories are like Game’s, made tf up," someone quipped.
"Joe is the type to tell a story that has maybe like 50% truth in it," another noted.
"Bro got caught in a lie," one more chimed in.
"I can never take this guys story serious.. I really don’t kno if he lying or telling the truth because he be telling it so good it seem like it might be truth to it.. but I never heard anyone he talk about confirm his stories so idk..," a fourth user penned.
Even more joined the ongoing discourse:
"Uncle Joe really hit him with the ‘sit down, nephew’ talk, Real ones give real advice," one user opined.
"finally old heads speaking sense. shout Fat Joe for speaking sense and may he continue on that path," someone else chimed in.
"You gotta take everything Joe says with a grain of salt. lol Justin probably never said that sh*t," another added.
"Is anyone ever going to fact check fat joe??? I swear to god the stories he says are just too god damn insane. He’s a great story teller but come on man…" yet another echoed.
Users called out Fat Joe for allegedly lying, though a few of them did laud him for setting Justin Bieber on the right path.
Here's all the advice Fat Joe gave Justin Bieber after bailing him out:
During the segment, Fat Joe revealed that he and Justin Bieber were close, but all that changed when he gave the latter some hard advice:
"He calls me to thank me, and starts saying, 'Yo, I'm a gangster now,'" Joe claimed, adding, "I said, 'Yo, Justin. Listen bro. You gotta stop. We don't want you gangster.'"
He also noted that he could have nudged Bieber on the same path if he wanted to remain in his good graces, but he chose to do the right thing instead:
"We don't want you on the news. We don't want you getting arrested. We want you to succeed. You're Justin Bieber!" he said. "My daughter worships you! We all love you! And that kinda messed up my relationship with him at that moment."
Joe recounted telling him his own personal encounter with going to jail as an example of why he should steer clear of a similar fate. Noting that he once had to spend some time behind bars in Miami, where over “2,000 guys were screaming at him," he said:
“I already know walking up in there, I said, ‘Oh man, somebody gonna run up on me real quick with a knife, talking about you gotta pay whatever, whatever, and I actually got intimidated."
At the time of writing, Justin Bieber has yet to corroborate Joe's stories.
