Jennifer Lawrence is an Oscar-winning actress known for a wide range of roles to this point in her career. The former Hunger Games star has been increasingly active in recent projects and was most recently seen alongside Robert Pattinson in the arthouse film Die My Love.

In the most recent news about the actress, Jennifer Lawrence sat down with Leonardo DiCaprio for an Actors on Actors interview for Variety. The actors exchanged questions throughout the conversation and shared several anecdotes, as well as their process as actors.

When asked to describe her experience working on Silver Linings Playbook, she recalled that at times she was able to disconnect from her character once the cameras were off. That approach, she noted, may have added to her anxiety for subsequent scenes.

“My bad habit is I’m so good at letting go at the end of the day, that I don’t think about the next day. And then it’s a mad scramble in the hair and makeup trailer.”

She added,

“It’s great for my life. It makes me not go crazy, but the next morning is hell… It’s like going to school in just your underwear. It’s a horrible feeling.”

Jennifer Lawrence goes in depth with Leonardo DiCaprio for Variety

Jennifer Lawrence discussed several topics during the interview. When asked by Leonardo DiCaprio what interested her about taking her role in her latest film, Die My Love, the actress spoke about how her involvement in the project came together.

“Martin Scorsese had read the book in his book club and he was like, “You should make this into a movie and star in it.” And then when I was reading it, I really couldn’t understand how it would be a movie.”

She went on to say,

“I couldn’t crack how to make it a movie, and I didn’t want to go back to Marty and be like, “I don’t get it, try someone else.” I think I realized that it’s poetry, it’s not a literal story. Then it clicked that Lynne Ramsey would be the only [director for this]. I think she’s a poet.”

Later in the interview, both actors commiserated about the fact that they began auditioning for smaller roles at a young age. On her first major acting credit, Lawrence shared,

“Well, yours was “Growing Pains,” which I watched every day after school. Mine was “The Bill Engvall Show,” which I don’t think anybody has ever seen except me and my parents.”

Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio also revealed that they were both attached to star in a Martin Scorsese film, although that was the extent of the details they shared.
