Quentin Tarantino is a filmmaker who is quite vocal about his taste in movies. In his long career, he has made films like Kill Bill, Reservoir Dogs, and Pulp Fiction, among others. But the director has also often spoken about the films he likes by other filmmakers.

One of his favorites is Ridley Scott's action war drama Black Hawk Down. In a recent podcast, Tarantino confessed that he really liked it in his first viewing.

"I liked it when I first saw it"

In the same interview, he also named some of his other favorite films. So let's explore the entire statement and his favorite flicks.

Quentin Tarantino ranks Black Hawk Down as the best 21st-century film

Quentin Tarantino recently spoke on The Bret Easton Ellis podcast, where he named Black Hawk Down his favorite film of the 21st century. He said,

“I liked it when I first saw it, but I actually think it was so intense that it stopped working for me, and I didn’t carry it with me the way that I should’ve. Since then, I’ve seen it a couple of times, not a bunch of times, but I think it’s a masterwork, and one of the things I love so much about it is […] this is the only movie that actually goes completely for an ‘Apocalypse Now’ sense of purpose and visual effect and feeling, and I think it achieves it."

He continued,

"It keeps up the intensity for 2 hours 45 minutes, or whatever it is, and I watched it again recently, my heart was going through the entire runtime of the movie; it had me and never let me go, and I hadn’t seen it in a while. The feat of direction is beyond extraordinary.”

He listed Toy Story 3 as his second-favorite film and said,

“That last five minutes ripped my f*cking heart out, and if I even try to describe the end, I’ll start crying and get choked up […] It’s just remarkable.”

Other films in his favorite list include Lost in Translation, Dunkirk, There Will Be Blood, Zodiac, Unstoppable, Mad Max: Fury Road, Shaun of the Dead, and Midnight in Paris.

Workwise, Quentin Tarantino has written The Adventures of Cliff Booth, which is a sequel to his film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which will be directed by David Fincher.
