Lin-Manuel Miranda, along with a bunch of original cast members of Hamilton, took the stage at the 78th Tony Awards for a special performance. The 2025 Tony Awards were a star-studded event that was held at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on June 8, 2025. It was a big night for multi-hyphenate Lin-Manuel Miranda and the original cast members, as they reunited to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the musical, which premiered in 2015.
Lin-Manuel Miranda, who has been in several popular movies and TV shows like Mary Poppins Returns, In The Heights, Brooklyn 99, and His Dark Materials, is the creator and lead actor of Hamilton. The Tony Award-winning musical, which narrates the life story of Alexander Hamilton, the first U.S. Secretary of the Treasury during George Washington's presidency, opened at the Richard Rodgers Theater in New York City on August 6, 2015.
While Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote the musical, Thomas Kail directed it. Interestingly, the musical combines various musical genres such as hip-hop, rhythm & blues, and others to recount the story of Alexander Hamilton. The musical that received 11 awards at the 2016 Tony Awards, including an Olivier and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, was an instant hit and still continues to be so.
During the 2025 Tony Awards, Lin-Manuel Miranda, along with over twenty-four members of the original cast, including Leslie Odom Jr., Jonathan Groff, Daveed Diggs, Anthony Ramos, Christopher Jackson, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Phillipa Soo, and Ariana DeBose, reunited for a remarkable performance to celebrate 10 years of Hamilton.
Original cast members Daveed Diggs and Emmy Raver-Lampman share their thoughts on Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton

Along with several original cast members of Hamilton, Daveed Diggs and his wife, Emmy Raver-Lampman, also attended the 78th Tony Award ceremony. The couple, while speaking with People during the red carpet, shared their thoughts on Hamilton and how they felt about the reunion. The 36-year-old Emmy Raver-Lampman said:
"It was the most heartwarming, beautiful reunion of just 28 people that we love so much in a room. There's a lot of us that see each other often, and everybody sees each other, but not in this capacity. So, yeah, it was beautiful."
To which 43-year-old Daveed Diggs added:
"In this business, you keep moving so much that you don't often take the time to recognize how special something is while you're in it. It was really special. Obviously, the response was special, but that group of people is pretty singular. I've never been in a room like it."
