In what seemed to be a post-swim lakeside shot, fans were thrilled to see a shirtless Tom Hanks standing proudly next to his wife, singer and actress Rita Wilson. The duo appeared relaxed and comfortable. Rita wore a sleek black bikini, and her damp hair was slicked back.

In the post from Tom Hanks, he had captioned:

"Married for 37 years. Today! "Mr. Thanks, I love you, Mrs.,-Mr.THanks"

The short but heartfelt message was given a distinctive stamp by the deft wordplay, with capitalized "TH" in "Thanks" references his initials.

Rita Wilson wished him a happy anniversary as well as she too uploaded an equally emotional and happy photo of the couple enjoying their time outdoors. The caption said:

Rita Wilson and Tom first met each other in the early 1980s. Their relationship truly took off when they were filming the comedy Volunteers in 1985, even though they had first met on the set of Hanks' sitcom Bosom Buddies. At the time, Hanks was still married to his college sweetheart, Samantha Lewes, with whom he had two children, Elizabeth "E.A." Hanks and Colin Hanks.

Hanks and Wilson married on April 30, 1988, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their lives and in love, following the completion of his divorce in 1987. They created a blended family that has stayed close-knit and encouraging despite the demands of public life after welcoming two kids together, Chester "Chet" Hanks and Truman Theodore Hanks.

Hanks and Wilson have been candid about the spark that sustains their relationship throughout the years. Regarding this wife, Hanks stated in a 2013 CNN interview:

"When I met Rita, I thought, ‘Oh, this is what it’s supposed to be like when you are married to somebody.’ It’s supposed to be this carefree and easy and, you know, oddly enough, weighty."

Their marriage has frequently served as a source of artistic inspiration for Wilson as well. She wrote the song "The Spark" in 2019 as a homage to their long bond. With a heartfelt Instagram message, she clarified:

"In any long-term relationship, if you're lucky, you started with a spark… Fires need to be tended to, stoked, added to, watched. As long as there is a spark you'll always have a fire. I love you, Tom."
