Luca Guadagnino's Artificial has a new member joining the team, and it's none other than Cooper Koch. The actor is joining Andrew Garfield and Yura Borisov for Gudagnino's AI-themed film, the plot of which is still being kept under wraps. It's not known yet what role Koch will be playing, but seeing his acting range, it would be an exciting one.
With a Golden Globe nod under his belt for Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, Chavez has gone from daytime darling to one of the most electrifying names on true crime TV. His turn as Erik Menendez was a haunting portrayal in slow motion, layered and disturbingly tender. The series exploded onto Netflix, topping charts and racking up billions of minutes watched, but it’s Chavez’s quiet storm of a performance that brought in so much praise for the project.
But that's not all. Before stepping into the polished shoes of a Menendez brother, Chavez dove headfirst into blood and queerness in They/Them, holding his own alongside horror legend Kevin Bacon. Then came Swallowed, Carter Smith’s indie nightmare that saw Chavez lean into body horror with fearless grit.
As he gets on board with Guadagnino's project, it would also be interesting to see what he brings to the film. More details on his character are awaited for now.
Everything we know about Luca Guadagnino's Artificial

Luca Guadagnino, revered for lush emotional dramas like Call Me by Your Name and the tense sports romance Challengers, is turning his cinematic gaze toward corporate chaos. His next project, Artificial, is a fast‑tracked feature poised to unpack the chaos around artificial intelligence that has the world in a chokehold. Although the plot details are blurry for now, reports claim that the film is about the 2023 OpenAI saga when CEO Sam Altman was ousted, then reinstated just five days later. Produced by Amazon, MGM, and Heyday Films, and scripted by Saturday Night Live alum Simon Rich, the film promises to meld comedic flair with serious ethical drama.
Andrew Garfield, already a Guadagnino muse following their collaboration on After the Hunt, is a big part of the project and is reportedly in talks to embody Altman. Monica Barbaro, may portray CTO Mira Murati, although it is not confirmed yet. Yura Borisov is expected to play co‑founder Ilya Sutskever, who led the board’s initial removal of Altman. Their performances are set to dramatize the intense boardroom fallout that shook Silicon Valley. Guadagnino plans to shoot key scenes across San Francisco and Italy in summer 2025.
More details about Artificial are awaited for now.
