American rapper and singer-songwriter Colson Baker, commonly known as MGK, formerly Machine Gun Kelly, recently opened up about the time he almost auditioned for Ryan Coogler's horror thriller blockbuster Sinners, which was released on April 17, 2025. Then he revealed that he had to turn down the opportunity because he needed to say a racial slur.
Machine Gun Kelly, who was previously dating the Transformers actress Megan Fox, appeared on the latest episode of The Pat McAfee Show on July 31, 2025, where he discussed how he had to decline the audition for Coogler's Sinners, as he had to say a racial slur, which turned out to be a theatrical success. The 35-year-old Machine Gun Kelly told McAfee:
He has "a lot of aspirations to be in movies. It just hasn't panned out that way. I'm on universal timing, though, so we'll see."
The People's Choice Country Award-winning singer went ahead and said:
"I mean, there's there's been plenty of movies that come out that I'm like, ‘Ah, I was supposed to be in that.’ Or, ‘Oh, I did auditions for that.’ Like Sinners, I was supposed to be in that."
Machine Gun Kelly was supposed to audition for the role of Bert, which was ultimately played by Peter Dreimanis in the movie. In the film, Bert was married to Lola Kirke's character, Joan, and both of them eventually turn into vampires after they let Remmick, played by Jack O'Connell, the main vampire, into their house. However, MGK continued and added:
"The vampire — they had me set up to do the audition— it’s the one that’s in the house, so he’s the second vampire, the one that the guy comes and eats the family. In the audition, he has to say the ‘n-word’ and I wouldn’t do it."
Machine Gun Kelly shared that he is eager to work in movies and TV shows

The Rap Devil hitmaker, MGK, while he might have declined the opportunity to act in Sinners, made it quite clear to host Pat McAfee that he is very eager and interested in acting in movies and television shows. MGK, while looking directly at the camera, said:
"Hey, dude. I'd like to be in cinema while I still look young."
To which Pat added:
"Okay. All right. That was the message to Hollywood."
MGK once again said:
"I would really like to be recruited into a movie while I still got some looks."
McAfee added:
"We're part of an Oscar run here."
