Dallas Cowboys's defensive end Marshawn Kneeland's girlfriend has broken her silence a week after his death by suicide. Kneeland was found dead in 'apparent suicide' last week. He was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound following a police chase, local authorities said.

Catalina Mancera was seen outside their Texas apartment. In a statement to Daily Mail, Mancera said:

“It's too much. I'm grieving hard right now. It will be a long time before I'll feel ready to talk at any length.”

She also spoke out about the uncertain future she sees in front of her:

“We're still in the early stages of everything. We are working on the funeral arrangements. I don't know where it's going to be yet.”

Unlike the regular NFL couples, Mancera and Kneeland shared an intimate relationship unseen by the world on social media. It is also known that Catalina is an aspiring entrepreneur and has her own brand called szn.stitches which she runs on Instagram.

The Dallas Cowboys released a statement on November 6, albeit without the details of his death:

"It is with extreme sadness that the Dallas Cowboys share that Marshawn Kneeland tragically passed away this morning. Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organization. Our thoughts and prayers regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family."

The NFL also shared condolences on their official X page, as seen below:

Kneeland's agent Jonathan Perzley also mourned the defensive end's passing and shared a statement:

"I am shattered to confirm that my client and dearest friend Marshawn Kneeland passed away last night. I watched him fight his way from a hopeful kid at Western Michigan with a dream to being a respected professional for the Dallas Cowboys. Marshawn poured his heart into every snap, every practice, and every moment on the field. To lose someone with his talent, spirit, and goodness is a pain I can hardly put into words."

Kneeland was the Dallas Cowboys' overall 56th pick and only the second from Western Michigan in 2024. In what turned into his last game with the team, he recovered a blocked punt and scored his first touchdown against Arizona Cardinals.
