Avengers: Doomsday is the upcoming film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and it will be the fifth in the Avengers series. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo and written by Stephen McFeely and Michael Waldron, the film is slated to be released on December 18, 2026.
In April, Marvel had unveiled some of the cast members in a live stream. It included the return of several actors who have appeared in the MCU before. Now, the news is floating that the makers will be revealing the entire cast at the 2025 San Diego Comic-Con. Interestingly, Robert Downey Jr.'s casting as Doctor Doom was revealed at the same event last year.
Marvel to reveal full cast of Avengers: Doomsday at San Diego Comic-Con
Marvel Studios will be revealing the entire cast of the forthcoming Avengers: Doomsday film at the 2025 San Diego Comic-Con, which will take place between July 24th and 27th. The studio had unveiled nearly everyone from the cast in April earlier this year. This news means that there are still some surprise entries left to be mentioned for the film. Fans had earlier noted that Tom Holland was missing from the roster of actors. So we will have to wait for the event to get the full list of the film's cast.
At last year's Comic Con, Robert Downey Jr. was unveiled to be Doctor Doom, the main antagonist of the forthcoming film. In the earlier phase of the MCU, Robert had played Tony Stark/Iron Man, who dies after stopping Thanos in 2019's Endgame. It would be interesting to see how the makers will justify his reappearance as the villain in this film.
Avengers: Doomsday will feature several superhero teams, including X-Men, Fantastic Four, and the Thunderbolts* as they team up to face Doctor Doom. The film was earlier slated to release on May 1, 2026, but was pushed to December 18, 2026.
