Robert Pattinson might have to put on the Batman cape sooner rather than later since The Batman 2 is seemingly finished. Matt Reeves, the co-writer and director of The Batman (2022), has just shared a photo on his X (formerly Twitter) account, reportedly with the finished script for The Batman 2. Here's the post:

The caption reads,

"Partners in Crime (Fighters)"

In the photo, he is sitting next to screenwriter Mattson Tomlin, who has worked on the script alongside Reeves. This is the update that the DC fans have been eagerly waiting for. So, Reeves' new post must have offered them a sigh of relief.

The update comes only a few days after DC co-CEO James Gunn spoke about the project during his interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Since James Gunn took charge of the DC studio with Peter Safran, he has repeatedly been asked about the future of the Batman universe. In 2022, Robert Pattinson brought this character to life in Matt Reeves' mysterious film that offered a different, much gloomier interpretation of this reclusive billionaire. So, the fans have been eagerly waiting for a follow-up project.

Unfortunately, much like any other fandom, things started getting a little out of control with fans expecting the project at the earliest. They reportedly started bugging Gunn about an update on Reeves' project. That's why, in the June 19 interview with EW, Gunn cleared the air. He said,

“Listen, we’re supposed to get a script in June. I hope that happens. We feel really good about it. People should get off Matt’s nuts because it’s like, let the guy write the screenplay in the amount of time he needs to write it. That’s just the way it is. He doesn’t owe you something because you like his movie. I mean, you like his movie because of Matt. So let Matt do things the way he does.”

During the same interview, he was asked about the casting for The Batman 2 to check if Robert Pattinson is reprising his role. Here's what Gunn said when asked if he has cast anyone for the role,

"No...Well, we cast Robert Pattinson, so he is still there. But he's still important. What Matt's doing is still really important, despite all stories to the contrary. We're supposed to see that script shortly and I can't wait."
