Kristin Davis shared a heartfelt story about Matthew Perry, recalling how they were once set up on what she described as a “low-key” evening in the late 1990s. During the August 18 episode of her Are You a Charlotte? podcast, Davis explained that a friendly attorney set up the meeting.
“He’s not my lawyer, but he’s a nice lawyer, and I’ve been set up with Matthew Perry, and this is like ’98, ’99, ’97 maybe. I feel like it was between Melrose Place, which I did before [Sex and the] City, and it was at a house. It was a dinner party. It was so low-key.” she shared.
At that point, Davis was still a few years away from playing Charlotte York, while Perry was thriving on Friends.
“Matthew’s lovely. He sits next to me. And he’s talking about how thrilled he is, how happy they are on the set at Friends, and he was doing a film with Salma Hayek. I was like, ‘Wow, he’s so happy.’”
How did Kristin Davis’ career shape up?

Kristin Davis said that although her evening with Matthew Perry in the ’90s wasn’t romantic, it sparked reflection. She recalled being impressed by his enthusiasm for work during a time when her own environment felt much less secure.
“I had been around Melrose and it wasn’t the happiest place in a way, there were 15 series regulars. Everyone had the feeling they might get cut, so it was that competitive and stressy.” she shared.
According to E! News, a few years later, Davis joined 'Sex and the City' in 1998, playing Charlotte York alongside Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kim Cattrall. The HBO hit aired until 2004, then returned with two movies. Davis reprised her role in both films and in the reboot series 'And Just Like That,' which recently ended after three seasons.
Looking back, Davis said her busy career shaped her outlook as well.
“[In my 20s], I thought I’d never get married. I guess I was right!” she told People in 2008:
“I grew up in the South so all everyone talked about was marriage, but all I wanted was to move to New York and do theater. And in my 30s, I was busy doing [Sex and the City] so I just didn’t have time.” she added.
How a network of doctors, dealers, and an assistant fueled Matthew Perry’s fatal addiction

Nearly two years after Matthew Perry’s death, a woman involved in the case pleaded guilty to federal charges related to the drugs that killed the Friends actor. The BBC reported that Jasveen Sangha, known as the “Ketamine Queen,” reached a deal with prosecutors to admit guilt to five charges in Los Angeles. One of these charges involved distributing ketamine that resulted in death or serious injury.
Federal officials alleged that Sangha ran what they called a “drug-selling emporium” from her Los Angeles home, where investigators seized multiple vials of ketamine during a raid.
Matthew Perry was discovered dead in the jacuzzi at his Los Angeles home in October 2023. An autopsy determined the cause was the acute effects of ketamine. Sangha was among five people accused of profiting from Perry’s addiction. The group included doctors Salvador Plasencia and Mark Chavez, assistant Kenneth Iwamasa, who prosecutors said both purchased and injected Perry with the drug, and Eric Fleming, who resold ketamine obtained from Sangha.
Each of the five has now agreed to plead guilty. Sangha’s trial, which was originally scheduled for next month, has been delayed multiple times. She is now expected to appear in federal court soon to finalize her plea deal. Her lawyer, Mark Geragos, stated to the BBC that she was ready to take responsibility for her actions.
