Normani and DK Metcalf’s engagement is currently in the spotlight as new photos show the songstress without her diamond ring.

The pop singer and Seattle Seahawks wide receiver were first linked back in January 2022, and two years later, they announced their engagement on March 13 on social media.

Fans have since begun showering them with love. However, in new photos uploaded by Normani—while she looks all dolled up in a white snatched gown and her tresses left down—her body was noticeably bare of any jewelry. Eagle-eyed fans were quick to notice the detail, with many flocking to social media to speculate.

However, a large number of users also pointed out that it’s likely she didn’t wear any jewelry simply for the photoshoot. Here’s how one fan reacted on Instagram, for instance:

"lmfao, it’s a photoshoot??????????? Maybe she just took it off for the pictures."

The comments didn't end there:

"God forbid a girl didn’t wear jewelry in her photoshoot," someone penned.

"What if she took the pictures before she was engaged? Sitting on content is very normal. This is a sickness to be this worried about other people’s business," another opined.

"she could’ve just taken it off for the pictures yall…" yet another pointed out.

Even more chimed in with their opinions:

"Or hear me out maybe she just didn’t wanna wear the ring for the photo shoot! Y’all be doing so much 😂," another echoed.

"I literally wore my engagement ring half the time. Y’all are so dramatic," someone else said.

DeKaylin “DK” Metcalf, 27, revealed that the pair is engaged during a press conference held on March 13, in honor of him being traded from the Seattle Seahawks to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“My family and her family was in Houston. It was my sister’s spring break and just thought about getting the whole family together for a big kumbaya and joining our families with the ring,” he told reporters at the time.

He revealed that he proposed to his “beautiful fiancée” just the day before, before telling his bride, who was present that day, to:

“Hold that rock up, baby.”

Close-up photos of the ring have yet to come out, though the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Instagram account uploaded a string of photos of the duo, where it can be seen.

Later that day, DK Metcalf took to Instagram to share the announcement himself:

“Shoutout to my beautiful fiancée for being here with me. Can’t wait to step onto the field with the rest of the Black and Gold Nation," he penned.

Nonetheless, Cosmopolitan consulted with Laura Taylor, a seasoned jeweler at Lorel Diamonds, who gave her input:

“Normani’s engagement ring is a classic design featuring a large center stone, likely a pear or oval-cut diamond, set on a platinum band,” she told the outlet. “The diamond is very prominent from the side view, which suggests a high-carat weight, possibly in the 6 to 8 carat range. It is held in place with a prong setting which is designed to make sure it captures your attention.”

She went on,

“The band itself seems to have an extra sparkle in the photo, which makes me think it features a pavé or channel-set design. This is where diamonds are set into the band for added brilliance without taking attention away from the center stone.”

Laura also estimates that the ring could cost anywhere between $300,000 to $500,000.
