When Meghan Markle and Prince Harry inked a reported $100 million deal with Netflix, back in 2020, the world watched with high expectations. Now, years later, that chapter is coming to a quiet close.

As The Sun recently reported, the couple’s agreement with the streamer will not be renewed when it reaches its end in September. Their partnership yielded a few headline-grabbing moments, most notably the debut of Harry & Meghan, which drove major viewership.

But follow-ups, including Harry’s documentary on polo, failed to match that early success. The polo-focused series reportedly pulled in just 500,000 viewers. Despite the loss of that deal, Meghan Markle and Harry’s combined wealth remained substantial. According to Celebrity Net Worth, the couple’s joint fortune was estimated at $120 million.

Meanwhile, Meghan Markle also appeared to shift her attention toward her lifestyle brand, As Ever, a move that reportedly caused mild frustration among Netflix executives.

“The deal is done; no more shows will be made,” one source told The Sun.
“Netflix feel they’ve got all they can from the couple. Netflix were clever in that they got a hell of a lot of viewers for the first documentary series, and knew, realistically, it would prove the zenith of content from the Montecito pair,” the source added.

The source added that while the quality of content dipped over time, the company still saw value in the early success.

“They’re not unhappy with how things turned out — they got those initial hits, and produced one of the most talked-about shows of all time. The content got weaker from there on but, frankly, for £20million a year, anything was better than nothing. There’s no animosity from either side,” the source explained.

The end of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s $100 million Netflix deal doesn’t mark the end of their relationship with the streaming platform. In fact, as People reported, the couple is set to return to Netflix this fall with the premiere of the second season of With Love, Meghan.

While the non-renewal of their multi-project agreement suggests a shift in strategy for Netflix, the Duchess of Sussex’s lifestyle series has proven successful enough to warrant continued investment. According to Netflix’s most recent Engagement Report, the show, which debuted on March 4, reached 5.3 million views in the first half of 2025. It even cracked the top 10 on Netflix’s global shows list during its debut week, earning 2.6 million views and 12.6 million hours watched.

Netflix has been moving away from large, multi-year deals in favor of a more flexible approach to content creation. For Meghan Markle and Harry, this shift likely means their role at Netflix will be less about a full slate of projects and more about singular, high-profile releases, like Meghan’s second season of With Love, Meghan.

As per The Guardian, when the couple first signed the deal in September 2020, they spoke about the vision for their content thus:

“Through our work with diverse communities and their environments, to shining a light on people and causes around the world, our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope.”

Meghan Markle discusses financial insecurity and scarcity mindset with Sara Blakely

Meghan Markle opened up about her complex relationship with money during an episode of her podcast Confessions of a Female Founder. In conversation with Spanx's billionaire founder Sara Blakely, the Duchess of Sussex revealed that she often experiences a deep-seated fear of financial instability.

Blakely shared her thoughts on the flawed mindsets many people have about money, especially when it comes to achieving financial freedom. She believes that negative beliefs about success and money are pervasive, and most people aren’t aware of how these ideas hold them back.

“A lot of people don’t even realize they have not great narratives around success or around obtaining a lot of financial freedom and money for themselves,” Blakely said.

Meghan Markle responded thoughtfully, admitting she too struggles with shifting her own mindset. She expressed a desire to “adopt” a healthier perspective on money, particularly since, as she pointed out, women are often discouraged from discussing finances in an open and empowering way.

“So many women, especially, we’re taught to not even talk about money, and there’s lots of guilt mentality surrounding having a lot,” Markle shared.

She went on to reflect on how easily a “scarcity mindset” can take hold, one that convinces individuals they will never have enough.

“It’s easy to believe financial security is out of reach, and that thought — that ‘I’ll never have enough’ — can be overwhelming,” Meghan shared.
