The final trailer for Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo's highly anticipated movie Wicked: For Good has dropped, and the internet is swooning.
Film Updates shared the trailer on X, and it didn't take long for fans to begin flocking to the comments section to rave over it. In the trailer, a celebration can be seen with Erivo's Elphaba flying in the skies and carving the words "Our wizard lies" in the clouds while Grandes's Glinda witnesses from the ground.
Elphaba can also be seen confronting her old friend as she tells her she has "no real power." The clip has evoked a gamut of emotions in fans, such as this one user who penned online:
"MOVIE OF THE YEAR INCOMING. THE WORLD IS TURNING PINK AND GREEN ONCE MORE"
The comments didn't end there:
"Ariana…..now is your time to get that Oscar," one fan cheered on.
"GIVE THEM THE OSCARS ALREADY," someone else quipped.
"We are going to be changed for good!" another exclaimed.
"MOVIE OF THE CENTURY HELLO!!!!?????" a fourth user penned, emphatically.
See how the rest of X is reacting:
"if that trailer made me cry, what is the whole movie going to do?!" one user questioned.
"They are gonna have to DRAG me out of that cinema," someone else quipped.
"you get an oscar! you get an oscar! everyone gets an oscar!!" another chimed in.
"i’m seated. the theater employees are scared and asking me to leave because it ‘isn’t november yet’ but i’m simply too seated," yet another quipped.
Users were visibly excited to see the trailer, as seen in the comments above.
Everything you need to know about Wicked: For Good as its prequel rakes in millions:
Wicked: For Good hits the theaters on November 21. The project is the film adaptation of the iconic Broadway musical of the same name, and it comes on the heels of the success of its prequel, Wicked. Deadline has reported that the latter, which debuted last year, raked in over $700 million worldwide.
Wicked also earned Erivo an Academy Award nomination just earlier this year for best actress in a leading role, while Grande was nominated for best supporting actress. People Magazine has reported that the film earned 10 Oscar nominations in total.
Today reported that the film won two Oscars: best achievement in production design for Nathan Crowley and Lee Sandales, as well as best achievement in costume design for Paul Tazewell.
As reported by People Magazine, screenwriter Winnie Holzman revealed just last year that they decided to split the film adaptation of the movie into two parts after several “long conversations” because there was “too much story for one movie.”
“We wanted the fun, and the whole artistic fulfillment of being able to make these movies was to be able to explore our story and our characters with a little bit more depth,” said Holzman. “And nobody wanted to cut any songs — in fact, we wanted to add songs.”
Per the outlet, both Wicked: For Good and its sequel were filmed together, which ended in January last year. At the time, Erivo took to Instagram to commemorate the occasion with a silhouette of her atop a broomstick.
“That’s a wrap for me, Elphie out!!” she wrote in the caption.
