NASA appeared to have a message for Kim Kardashian this week after she questioned whether humans had ever really set foot on the Moon. As reported by Us Weekly, the space agency’s Acting Administrator, Sean Duffy, took to X on Thursday, October 30, to clear things up. “Yes, @KimKardashian, we’ve been to the Moon before… 6 times!” Duffy wrote, responding after Hulu aired a Kardashians episode where the reality star, 45, admitted she wasn’t convinced the 1969 landing was real. Sean Duffy, who reality TV fans might remember from The Real World: Boston, also reminded followers that NASA wasn’t done exploring.
“And even better: @NASAArtemis is going back under the leadership of @POTUS, we won the last space race and we will win this one too 🇺🇸.”

The exchange came shortly after Kim Kardashian, while promoting her new show All’s Fair, mentioned that she had been discussing conspiracy theories with actress Sarah Paulson, sparking the very debate that drew NASA’s attention.
Kim Kardashian goes down a conspiracy rabbit hole:

During the Thursday, October 30 episode of The Kardashians, Kim and actress Sarah Paulson found themselves in a spirited discussion about the 1969 Apollo moon landing. Kim Kardashian referenced old footage of astronaut Buzz Aldrin, saying,
“I’m sending you a million interviews with Buzz Aldrin. This [reporter] asks, ‘What was the scariest moment?’ And he goes, ‘There was no scary moment because it didn’t happen. It could have been scary, but it wasn’t because it didn’t happen.’”
“I think it didn’t happen. I’m going to go on a serious deep dive. I send [Sarah] conspiracies all the time,” she added.
As per reports shared by Us Weekly, while Kim Kardashian appeared convinced by the videos she had seen online, the clips in question had been manipulated, a mash-up of interviews that removed key context. The original 2015 footage showed Aldrin explaining that a “scary moment” could have happened during the mission but ultimately did not.
Later in the episode, Kim Kardashian was asked directly by producers whether she believed the conspiracy theory.
“I don’t think we did [go to the moon]. I think it was fake, I’ve seen a few videos on Buzz Aldrin talking about how it didn’t happen. He says it all the time now. Maybe we should find Buzz Aldrin. Oh, my God, Khloé [Kardashian] should get him on her podcast. A conspiracy theory podcast,” she replied.
Kim Kardashian went on to cite reasons drawn from TikTok, including the flag’s movement, discrepancies in the astronauts’ boots, and the lack of visible stars in photos.
“They’re gonna say I’m crazy no matter what, but go to TikTok and see for yourself,” she shared.
While Kim Kardashian’s moon landing doubts surface, Buzz Aldrin shares powerful anniversary tribute:

While Kim Kardashian appeared to cast doubt on the moon landing, the historic 1969 mission was one of the most documented moments in human history. Astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin traveled aboard the Apollo 11 Lunar Module and became the first people to walk on the moon, with photographs and footage from the journey later shared around the world.
“July 20, 1969. Contact light, engine stop. The Apollo 11 lunar module Eagle touched down at Tranquility Base on the Moon,” Aldrin wrote on X in July 2025, marking the anniversary of the landing.
“A few hours later, Neil Armstrong and I stepped foot on the Moon, with Michael Collins orbiting close-by.”

Aldrin used the occasion to thank the countless people who made the Apollo mission possible. “An achievement resulting from years of incalculable effort, commitment, and teamwork. We all did our part to see President Kennedy’s words become reality,” he said, quoting Kennedy’s 1962 speech:
“‘We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard.’”
He closed his message with gratitude:
“I couldn’t be prouder to have completed this mission with the hundreds of thousands of people that helped get us to the moon and back home. God bless the USA and all of humankind.”
Even though one can find online chatter and multiple conspiracy theories regarding the moon landing and space race, former astronaut Buzz Aldrin’s words serve as a reminder of how the Apollo mission remains embedded in human history. For those who lived to witness the space race, they could cherish emotions of hope and potential. The space race, spread hope for humanity, that with an unending curiosity and a will to never give up, we could achieve that which once felt impossible.
