Natalie Portman’s Oscar-winning Black Swan gets first-ever Imax release for 15th anniversary

Black Swan was released fifteen years ago on December 17, 2010, after its premiere at the 67th Venice Film Festival. Directed by Darren Aronofsky, the psychological horror film was written by Andres Heinz, Mark Heyman, and John McLaughlin. Here is the official synopsis as per Letterboxd,

The story of Nina, a ballerina in a New York City ballet company whose life, like all those in her profession, is completely consumed with dance. She lives with her retired ballerina mother Erica who zealously supports her daughter’s professional ambition. When artistic director Thomas Leroy decides to replace prima ballerina Beth MacIntyre for the opening production of their new season, Swan Lake, Nina is his first choice.

The film will be released in IMAX theaters on its 15th anniversary.

Black Swan's remastered version will be screened in over 200 IMAX screens across the United States and Canada between August 21 and 24. This was announced by Searchlight Pictures.

This is the first time viewers will get to experience the film in premium IMAX screens. The film had a limited release on December 3, 2010, and had a wider release on December 17. It ended up grossing $329.3 million at the box office against a budget of $13 million.

Black Swan received five nominations at the 83rd Academy Awards in the categories of Best Picture, Best Director, Best Cinematography, and Best Editing. Natalie Portman ended up winning the Best Actress Award. Here is a list of its cast members:
