Netflix announces an official streaming date for The Outrun starring Saoirse Ronan

The Outrun, starring Saoirse Ronan, will soon be available to stream on Netflix in the US shortly after its release in the UK. This English drama film was nominated for two BAFTA awards, which included one for Ronan's moving performance. Ronan's widely praised act was also nominated for a Gotham award and a British Independent Film Award. However, there were only a few options to watch the film online until now.

The Outrun was only available to rent on Prime Video, Google Play, and Vudu. Soon, it will be a part of Netflix's catalog according to a recent announcement by the streamer.

According to the report from What's on Netflix, the Saoirse Ronan film started streaming on the streamer in the UK on February 28, 2025. However, it will be available on the Netflix UK catalog for only 9 months, per the country-specific contract model. It will be available to stream on US Netflix from March 18, 2025, for 18 months.

Studiocanal represented The Outrun in the UK whereas Sony Pictures handled its distribution in the US.

The Outrun streaming details are finally out. So, the Lady Bird star's fans can finally watch her latest performance by catching this film on Netflix. The film shows Saoirse Ronan in the intense role of Rona, a young woman with a troubled past. It traces her gut-wrenching journey in a non-linear fashion as it shows her painful struggles with addiction. Once out of rehab, she tries to rekindle her relationship with her parents and herself.

The film is based on Amy Liptrot's same-name memoir. Director Nora Fingscheidt adapted this novel for her script, which she co-wrote with the author herself. Ronan leads the film. The rest of the cast includes Paapa Essiedu as her love interest, Stephen Dillane as her father, and Saskia Reeves as her mother. Its filming took place in the Orkney islands in Scotland.

Jack Lowden, a star in Apple TV+'s Slow Horses and Ronan's real-life spouse, serves as one of the producers of the film. Reportedly, he suggested Ronan play this part. As stated before, the film received glowing reviews, mainly for Ronan's tour de force performance.

The film currently holds an 82% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, where the official consensus says,
