Netflix's The Woman In Cabin 10 is joining the streamer's extensive collection of book-to-screen adaptations, and the film has already earned the seal from the original novel's author. Starring Keira Knightley in the lead, The Woman In Cabin 10 is about a journalist, Laura "Lo" Blacklock, who witnesses a murder, but is forced to grapple with her own distorted reality as she questions the surroundings around her and what's real and what's not.

Written by Ruth Ware, the novel saw acclaim from fans, and almost a decade later was picked up by the streaming giant for development. Speaking to People Magazine in a recent interview, Ware praised the film's premise, while giving Knightley her seal of approval for playing the character so well.

Speaking to the outlet, the author said,

Honestly, like an out-of-body experience. It was really crazy seeing it when I watched the film for the first time. That was honestly just the craziest thing of my life. It was surreal... I feel like I know how to write a book, but I do not know how to make a movie, so I was very happy to hand that over to the experts.

She then continued to praise Knightley's performance in the film and how "perfectly" the actress captured the character of Laura "Lo" Blacklock, as she added,

"[Keira Knightley] is a lot more beautiful than I'd imagine Lo. Lo in my head was always just more of a kind of everywoman, but I think she's really caught what I was trying to create with Lo's spirit, like she brings that sort of slightly anxious, slightly vulnerable, but fundamentally incredibly tough, dogged, driven persona. She just captures that perfectly"

With Simon Stone as the director, who co-wrote the screenplay with Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse, Ware calls The Woman In Cabin 10 timeless because, at its core, it’s about “the fear of not being believed.” At the heart of the film is Keira Knightley as Laura “Lo” Blacklock, a journalist on assignment aboard the lavish cruise ship. One night, she sees a passenger being hurled overboard. The problem? Every guest and crew member is accounted for. Dismissed as imagining things, Lo becomes determined to uncover the truth, even if it puts her life in danger.

The all-star passenger list includes Guy Pearce as Richard Bullmer, Kaya Scodelario as Grace, Hannah Waddingham as Heidi, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Daniel Ings as Adam, Art Malik, David Ajala as Ben, David Morrissey as Thomas Heatherley, Gitte Witt as Carrie, Christopher Rygh as Lars Jensen, John Macmillan as Captain Addis, Paul Kaye as Danny Tyler, Pippa Bennett-Warner, Lisa Loven Kongsli as Annie Bullmer, Amanda Collin, and Ayọ̀ Owóyẹmi-Peters.

The Woman In Cabin 10 will be streaming on Netflix from October 10, 2025.
