“Never closed her closet to me” - Nicole Richie talks about her mother’s influence on her fashion

Nicole Richie is making her mark on fashion yet again as Fashionphile's newest brand ambassador for 2025. Fashionphile is a well-known marketplace for pre-owned, luxury accessories, and Nicole credits her love for thrifting as the reason the partnership makes so much sense. Richie was encouraged to experiment with fashion from an early age by her mother, in particular, and Nicole fondly recalls that,

"My mom never closed her closet to me.”

The former reality star, turned designer, continued,

"Everything that was hers was always mine, and she keeps her pieces in mint condition and in a way that I truly could never. I still haven't figured out how she does that."

Her mother’s impact was strong and is at the core of her newest partnership as well.


Nicole Richie’s Fashionphile Partnership

According to an exclusive conversation with PEOPLE, Nicole Richie claimed that thrifting was a process she continues to hold very dear.

"Vintage shopping is so emotional. That hunt is something that I really enjoy. It's not for everyone. Not all of my friends like to go vintage shopping because it's more physical. You're digging and you're finding and you're figuring out what feels right to you."

This passion for the hunt and obtaining the right piece makes her association with Fashionphile an obvious choice. While Richie has curated an entire line of accessories for the platform, handbags remain her truest vice.

"I collect bags. I don't get rid of any of my bags, and if I do want to get another bag, I'm always looking to Fashionphile to help me source those accessories."

Richie went on to say that she appreciates being aligned with a partner who understands the nostalgia that drives a significant portion of this marketplace,

"I like partnering with people who do appreciate those moments of the past, knowing that they will come back around and in a way that I didn't even think they were going to."

Further proof that this is a match made in heaven between Richie and the budding brand.

When it comes to her daughter, Nicole tells E! News that she fully intends to pay forward the same openness she felt from her mother when she was younger. She is a huge fan of being able to share clothes and accessories with her daughter, Harlow.

“She’s in my closet, I’m in hers. It’s all, ‘Whoever wants what.’”

Wholesome vibes in what is looking to be a resurgent year for Nicole Richie.
