In the September 27 episode of the Brilliant Idiots podcast, Charlamagne tha God said that he "didn't like" Kimmel's tears on the episode and pointed out that the late-night host never said "sorry."
"I didn't like the tears. You know why I didn't like the tears? Because he cried when he mentioned Charlie Kirk. He didn't cry two weeks ago or a week ago when he got [killed]... It felt like, he was just trying to u do some performative emotion... And then he did like the apology. Not an apology. You thought he said I'm sorry. That's how the tone sound. But he never said 'I'm sorry,'" Charlamagne tha God said.

During the recent iHeartRadio Music Festival, Entertainment Tonight took a quick interview of the radio host. When asked about his views on Jimmy Kimmel's "cancellation," Charlamagne tha God took a shot at President Trump and said,
"It's funny to me that everybody's acting like this is a story about free speech. You know what I'm saying? And the first amendment, because it's not, because President Trump told us that Kimmel was on his hit list months ago, way before there was a Charlie Kirk comment, right? "
The host asked the TV presenter whether, if in Kimmel’s place, he would attempt reconciliation or choose to walk away.
"I was just having that conversation backstage with another personality here at iHeart. And it would be very hard to go back when your parent company does you the way that they just did, Jimmy," Charlamagne tha God replied.
What did Jimmy Kimmel say about Charlie Kirk in his comeback episode?
When Kimmel returned on September 23, he addressed his comments on Kirk's murder suspect that caused backlash. The late-night host seemingly got emotional and said,
"I do want to make something clear because it's important to me as a human. And that is you understand that it was never my intention to make light of the murder of a young man. I don't think there's anything funny about it. I posted a message on Instagram of the day he was killed sending love to his family and asking for compassion and I meant it and I still do," Kimmel added.
Adding on to that, he said that it was not his "intention" to blame any "specific group" for the actions of Kirk's shooter and called the suspect a "sick person."
He noted that he understood why some people got upset with him and acknowledged his comments. He also took a dig at President Trump in the episode.
Sinclair, which had earlier said it would continue preempting the show after ABC lifted its suspension, released a statement on September 26 announcing that it would resume airing Jimmy Kimmel Live! on its ABC affiliate stations.
