We have a brand new look at Jake Scully and his family in Avatar: Fire and Ash as fresh footage from the film shows the family narrowly escaping Varang and her tribe as chaos ensues. James Cameron's third entry in the franchise is already the subject of much anticipation as fans have waited for the film for almost a decade.

In a short, behind-the-scenes featurette, the director talked about the technology that went behind the making of Avatar: Fire and Ash, as he hyped up it's premise and said,

“It’s a culmination in a way of the whole adventure across the previous two films. We’ve got to evolve it to be able to bring people on a new journey, a new adventure. If you thought that Way of Water was big and impactful, Fire and Ash is going to be an experience unlike anything.”

Avatar: Fire and Ash is making use of the latest in motion capture filmmaking technology, ensuring smoother graphics and animations as compared to its predecessors. As of now, the film is all set to reach fans this December.

More details about Avatar: Fire and Ash

Avatar: Fire And Ash marks James Cameron’s return to Pandora with another massive, visually ambitious chapter in the sci-fi saga he started in 2009. Cameron directs and co writes the screenplay with Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, working from a story they developed alongside Josh Friedman and Shane Salerno. The film is produced by Lightstorm Entertainment and released by 20th Century Studios, continuing directly after Avatar: The Way Of Water and serving as the third entry in the ongoing series.

Cameron first hinted at expanding the original film into a larger story back in 2006, long before anyone knew how successful Avatar would become. After the first film broke records, he confirmed two sequels in 2010, with the early target of releasing Avatar 3 in December 2015.

The story picks up one year after Jake and Neytiri have settled into life with the Metkayina. Their family is still mourning Neteyam, and the loss leaves a deep emotional imprint on every character. A new Na’vi group emerges, known as the Ash People, led by Varang, a fierce leader hardened by tragedy. Her alliance with Quaritch reignites the conflict on Pandora and pushes the Sully family into a far more volatile battle.

The cast includes Sam Worthington as Jake, Zoe Saldaña as Neytiri, Sigourney Weaver as Kiri, Stephen Lang as Quaritch and Oona Chaplin as Varang. Cliff Curtis returns as Tonowari, while Britain Dalton narrates the film as Lo’ak. Trinity Jo Li Bliss plays Tuk, and Jack Champion returns as Spider. Bailey Bass, Kate Winslet, Giovanni Ribisi, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Brendan Cowell, Jemaine Clement, Filip Geljo, Duane Evans Jr., Dileep Rao, Matt Gerald and David Thewlis all reprise their roles or step into new ones. Payakan, the tulkun who bonded with Lo’ak, will also appear once more.

Avatar: Fire and Ash will be in theaters on December 19, 2025.
