A brand new look at Jake Scully in Avatar: Fire and Ash shows him in trouble as director James Cameron opens up on what his character's fate could look like in the latest film. It has now been revealed that the film will show Scully battling for Quaritch’s soul, who, as Cameron has revealed, plays an important part in the film.

Speaking to Empire for their latest edition, Cameron opened up on Quaritch's fate in the new film as he said,

“Quaritch is undergoing an identity crisis. His interest in the biological son of his biological precursor form is all about trying to define, ‘Am I a completely new person? Am I bound by the rules and the behaviours of the person whose memories and personality I was imprinted with?’ It’s a true existential dilemma for him in the philosophical sense.”

Avatar: Fire and Ash will also have quite a lot of action, as Cmeron talked about how Jake and Quaritch's dynamics will play out and added,

“I don’t want to tell you where it goes, but we’re gonna see all this play out, because Jake would rather have this guy on side. It’s very uninteresting to just have two guys trying to kill each other for three movies, so it gets much snakier. Quaritch’s soul is very much in play in movie three.”

Lang returns as Quaritch, resurrected in a recombinant body with a personal vendetta. Oona Chaplin joins as Varang, the leader of the volcano dwelling Ash People. Cliff Curtis returns as Tonowari. Britain Dalton plays Lo’ak and narrates the film. Trinity Jo Li Bliss appears as Tuk, and Jack Champion returns as Spider. Bailey Bass plays Tsireya, and Winslet reprises her role as Ronal.
