Netflix’s Stranger Things permeated culture in an unpredictably significant way from the moment it hit the streaming platform in 2016. The series has received tremendous praise throughout its run and has launched the careers of several faces who will define the next few decades of television and film.In preparation for the launch of the first instalment of its fifth and final season on November 27, the Stranger Things cast has been on quite a promotional run. The most recent instance featured several cast members rapping an entire series recap for fans in one minute as part of a segment on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. While the entire cast was not present, Millie Bobby Brown, Sadie Sink, Joe Keery, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Natalia Dyer, Maya Hawke, and Charlie Heaton participated in the video. As soon as the clip was made available online, the X community was quick to react. One user wrote,“My new ringtone for my cell phone”Another added,“super excited for the fifth season”Some users couldn’t contain their excitement,“stranger things we'll see you here aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa”Although it should be noted that some of the online community were not as impressed. One X user even stated,“This is a mess”Lastly, a seemingly loyal fan of the show commented on how much the cast has grown since we first met their characters in 2016.“They really grew up so fast”In another stop on their current promotional run, the Stranger Things cast participated in a video for Vanity Fair’s YouTube channel. The segment titled “Hot Seat” presented the participating cast members with questions that they were forced to answer truthfully on camera. The video got off to an interesting start when Millie Bobby Brown was asked to rank the seasons of Stranger Things in order. Her response seemed thought-out and surprisingly genuine,“Season 1, nostalgia-wise, for me was my favourite season because personally it was the most exciting time in my life. But season 5, because of the way it looks and the plot, is my favourite. Least favourite is season 2 because I don’t really remember it; it just feels like a bit of a blur, and everyone hates episode 7.”Later, when Caleb McLaughlin was asked who’d be most comfortable in the alternate upside-down dimension depicted on the show, the actor interpreted it as who was the messiest. Given the context, his response was as follows,“I’d say that I am the cleanest, then it’s Millie, Sadie, Finn, Noah and last is Gaten. He would be comfortable in the Upside Down, and the Upside Down would be uncomfortable with him.”Expectations are exceedingly high for the final chapter of Stranger Things, as audiences hope for the best yet in its closing season.
