The new teaser for James Gunn’s Superman isn’t just giving us cape and chaos; it’s throwing a grenade into Clark Kent’s double life. This isn’t the Superman we have seen on screen in all the years the hero has been adapted for the screen. The teaser hints at a world where the Man of Steel might have to live without the safety net of anonymity. Clark’s juggling his gig at The Daily Planet and saving the world in spandex, but with Lex Luthor sniffing around and throwing shade, it’s only a matter of time before the truth explodes.

In a new international trailer for the film, Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane straight-up drops the bomb and tells Kent,

“Eventually, people are gonna find out that you’re Superman.”

He then responds with a joke about his glasses, which have maintained his anonymity the whole time.

James Gunn has previously touched on this subject way back in December, as he addressed Superman's identity during a set visit. As reported by ScreenRant, the director said,

"It's not just Clark. It's not just Superman. It's Clark/Superman. And the only people that know Clark/Superman are his mom and his dad and a few others who know who he is, and those are very different things. People said all sorts of different things. They said, “Clark's the real one.” They said, “Superman's the real one and Clark's the secret identity.” But I don't, and it says it in my script on the second page - I don't believe either of those things. I don't think anybody knows Superman unless they know both of him. And when they know both of him, they know the real guy. And that means not too many people."

James Gunn isn’t just rebooting Man of Steel; he’s basically reshaping the entire DC Universe from scratch. Superman drops first, with David Corenswet donning the cape in a fresh take that balances heroic punch-ups with an existential crisis. The teaser already sets the tone: Clark’s bloodied, face down in the snow, and it’s Krypto the Superdog who comes running.

Rachel Brosnahan plays Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult plays Lex Luthor, and other than that, the DC roster is stacked. We’re getting Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), Green Lantern/Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion), Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi), Metamorpho (Anthony Carrigan), and even The Engineer (María Gabriela de Faría).

Gunn’s digging deep into Clark’s emotional landscape: the alien, the journalist, the hero. But he’s also laying serious groundwork for a connected DC Universe. This isn’t just a solo flick. It’s the ignition point of a whole new world. And honestly? It looks like it might just save the DCU.

Superman will be in theaters on 11 July 2025.
