Nick Reiner was diagnosed with Schizophrenia, as it was revealed that his medicines were messing with him and making him erratic.

Nick Reiner, son of famed filmmaker Rob Reiner, who is known for making films like The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, and Stand By Me, and Michele Singer Reiner, is the main suspect in the double homicide case of the couple that shook the internet this past week.
In a new development in the chilling case, it is revealed that the couple's youngest son, Nick, was diagnosed with Schizophrenia and was receiving care at a Los Angeles-based rehab facility that especially works with mental illnesses and substance abuse, up until recently.
3 to 4 weeks before the incident, the doctors had changed his medicines as they were trying to adjust his medications to stabilize him. However, the change resulted in him being more erratic and exhibiting alarming behavior. That is not all, as, according to sources, the evening before the murders, Nick Reiner attended Conan O’Brien's Christmas Party, his behavior was disruptive and also led to a heated exchange with his parents.
According to TMZ, one source said that Nick was "out of his head due to the change in his medication," while another said that the continuous drug use made his schizophrenia worse.
Nick Reiner arrested in double homicide case
The couple was found dead by their daughter, Romy, on 14th December, a few hours after the altercation with Nick. They had both suffered multiple knife wounds. Nick is being held without bail and is on suicide watch. His arraignment is set for January, and he will be represented by Alan Jackson, who is known for representing clients such as Kevin Spacey, Harvey Weinstein, and others.
Though Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman at a recent press conference discussed a possibility of capital punishment given the severity of the case, there is no certainty it will be granted.
