Practical Magic 2 has a brand new update that brings fans closer to the release of the highly anticipated comedy film. Nicole Kidman, who is leading the film once again, has just announced that the film has wrapped up production.
The actress took to Instagram to share this moment with fans as she posted a video of her and Sandra Bullock walking hand in hand into a sunset. Tagging the film and Warner Bros. in the post, she added a caption that read,
"That’s a wrap on #PracticalMagic2! Thank you to the cast & crew for all your magic"
In 2024, Kidman confirmed her role in the sequel as she spoke to PEOPLE magazine about her and Bullock's involvement in the project and said,
"Yes I will be in it. And Sandy will be in it. And that's that. There's a lot more to tell which is why we go, 'OK, this is kind of interesting now to be able to do this.'"
Both stars are reprising their roles from the original film, which was based on the 1995 novel by Alice Hoffman. The film follows sisters Gillian and Sally, who keep losing their partners to death and eventually join forces with their family to fight against a curse that keeps the women from being in love.

More than two decades after the audience fell under the spell of Practical Magic, the Owen sisters are now returning to the big screen with more chaos. Susanne Bier will be directing the sequel, which is bringing in quite a lot of familiar faces and some new additions to the ensemble.
Practical Magic 2 is based on Alice Hoffman's 2021 novel The Book of Magic, which was a continuation of the novel that inspired the first film. Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are stepping in as Sally and Gillian Owens, the witchy sisters whose mix of heartbreak and humor gave the first film cult classic status. Joining them are Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest, who are returning as the Owens' aunts Frances and Jet.
Not just that, the coven is expanding too. The film is adding Joey King, Maisie Williams, Lee Pace, Xolo Maridueña, and Solly McLeod to the cast, with a new generation of magical mischief and family drama. Bullock and Kidman are also producing alongside Denise Di Novi, who also worked on the first film.

Work on Practical Magic 2 has been underway since 2024, when Warner Bros. first revealed that the studio had plans for a sequel. Soon after, Kidman announced her return, followed by Bier's confirmation as the film's director.
Practical Magic 2 will be in theaters on September 18, 2026.
