In a bittersweet moment for Nicole Scherzinger, it’s now a fitting time for her to step back from Broadway for the time being. On Sunday, July 20th, the former Pussycat Dolls standout turned in her final performance of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Sunset Blvd. Her portrayal of Norma Desmond earned her several accolades, including a prestigious Tony for her efforts.
Prior to gracing the stage for the final time in the role, Nicole Scherzinger addressed the end of her beautiful journey and the time she spent with Nora’s character in a heartfelt social media post via Instagram. The post contains a carousel of pictures as well as a caption that reads as follows,
"Today, the sun sets on Sunset Blvd for the final time. After living and breathing Norma Desmond for the past two years, it’s almost impossible to grasp that today is the last show. What began as a limited run, then extended, now somehow, nearly 10 months on Broadway have flown by."
Nicole Scherzinger continued,
"Norma’s story is for anyone who’s ever felt alone. Lonely. Abandoned. Outcast. For anyone who never felt like they belonged. For those who once loved something deeply and had it taken from them, aching to reclaim it. For the dreamers. The fighters. The believers. The warriors. For those unshakable in their purpose and power, doing what they love most."
Nicole Scherzinger - Life after Sunset
Though Nicole Scherzinger made it clear as day that “Norma has changed me forever”, the supremely talented entertainer has much to look forward to in the wake of her Broadway stint coming to a temporary standstill. For starters, she has been engaged to Thom Evans since 2023, and the pair finally have the opportunity to plan their dream wedding.
Further, in a conversation she had with PEOPLE in May, Nicole Scherzinger shared that she has several ideas currently marinating for how to manage her career going forward. In the interview in question, Scherzinger described herself as open to doing a Las Vegas residency or even venturing out for a solo tour. She also made it a point to leave the door on a Broadway return firmly open.
"I have many dreams because sky's the limit. Nicole's got a lot more chapters to her as an artist. But I’m built for the stage, and I can't wait to share that."
That being said, her excitement for the future in no way diminishes the importance or impact that being on Broadway has provided for her,
"I will tell you, I don't think I'll fully be able to have seen it from the outside until I'm done with it. I’m so immersed in Norma Desmond’s world and too focused on making every performance — the first and the last. When it's all said and done, then I'll be able to be like, ‘Wow, that's probably one of the greatest achievements of my entire life.' "
