Travis Kelce's Kansas City Chiefs teammates were reportedly blindsided by his proposal to Taylor Swift.
TMZ has broken the news that Kelce, 35, who serves as the tight end for the NFL team, reportedly kept his plans a secret from his teammate, Noah Gray. The latter told reporters this Wednesday that he learned of the news while scrolling on his Instagram the day before.
He was referring to Taylor Swift's post on Instagram on Tuesday, August 26, where Travis Kelce can be seen down on one knee, asking her to marry him. Gray, however, clarified that he didn't take it personally. Instead, he's ecstatic for his teammate and his future bride, who is also 35.
"I'm extremely happy for them," the 26-year-old said. "I'm not going to get too much more into their personal life but just know that I'm extremely happy for them and I'm sure everybody is. It's a beautiful thing."

The Kansas City Chiefs have since celebrated the news of Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift's engagement with a post of the happy couple on Instagram.
"Today is a fairytale ❤️💍 Congrats to Travis and Taylor—we’re excited to have you as a permanent member of the Chiefs Kingdom family!" the NFL team's Instagram account captioned the Tuesday, August 26 post.
Travis Kelce's longtime teammate, Patrick Mahomes, and his wife, Brittany, also reposted Taylor Swift's post on their Instagram Stories. While the former kept things simple with three red heart emojis, the latter penned a sweet note:
"Two of the most genuine people meet and fall in love. Just so happy for these two."
Mike Danna, the defensive end for the Chiefs, also weighed in during his conversation with Lexi Osborne on "The Kingdom's Queens" podcast:
"It's incredible, man. You know, when I heard, I was caught off guard, but great for them, and that's a blessing. Any time you find that type of joy, happiness and love, I think that's a beautiful thing," Danna said. "I'm so happy for them, Trav and Taylor -- that's a wonderful time in life and wonderful part of the journey."
ABC News has pointed out that President Trump has also reacted to the news with well wishes for the happy couple:
"Well, I wish 'em a lot of luck," Trump said of Travis Kelce and Swift's engagement. "I think he's a great player. I think he's a great guy, and I think that she's a terrific person, so I wish them a lot of luck."
