In recent news, Gianni Paolo revealed that Ma co-star, Octavia Spencer, paid for his publicist.
American actress Octavia Spencer has a net worth of $14 million as per Celebrity Net Worth. According to a report published in PEOPLE, Gianni Paolo, in the latest episode of Harry Jowsey's Boyfriend Material podcast, disclosed that Spencer offered him $10,000 to hire a publicist.
The actress has accumulated her wealth by starring in at least 62 movies, along with being active in the television industry. She bagged central roles in sitcoms like Mom, drama series Red Band Society, and a lead role in the Apple TV+ series Truth Be Told.
She began her acting career as an intern and worked behind the scenes as a production assistant on the set of A Long Walk Home (1990). She then moved to Los Angeles in 1997 to pursue her acting career.
Octavia Spencer has also accumulated real estate. In 2013, she purchased a home in the Toluca Lake area of Los Angeles for $841,500.
"I'm just not going to get a publicist": Gianni Paolo on his finances during the Ma release
Gianni Paolo and Octavia Spencer starred alongside each other in the 2019 horror drama film, Ma. Paolo revealed to Jowsey that he was in debt at the time,
"This was pre "Ma" coming out, and I was like, 'I just can't spend $5,000 a month for a publicist. I only made $6,000 on the movie. I'm in $20,000 worth of credit card debt.' So I'm like, 'Eh, I'm just not going to get a publicist."
At the time, Spencer invited the Ma cast over for dinner ahead of the premiere,
"She was talking about doing press for the movie. And this was my first real, big thing, so I didn't know anything. And she basically was like, 'Yeah, so you guys all, like, we're going to do press, publicists.' And I'm like - 'I don't have the money to do that."
Furthermore, Paolo divulged that Spencer, after the dinner on Friday, called her publicist on Monday, and paid the bill for it "completely" and even set him up with her whole team, before saying, "Now you have a publicist".
Gianni Paolo also revealed that while Spencer never asked for the money back, he eventually reimbursed the $10,000 after booking Power.
"Didn't ask for the money back. Never. I got real opportunities from it. When I booked 'Power', I shot my first episode, got my first paycheck for Power, and then I wired her the money back."
After listening to the story, Jowsey was surprised to find out that Spencer never asked for the money back and "just did it".
