Adam Sandler has included a subtle yet emotional tribute to the late Cameron Boyce in Happy Gilmore 2, quietly honoring the young actor’s legacy with a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment.

In an early scene of the film, Adam Sandler’s character approaches a check-in counter at a golf course. Behind the desk, two characters are shown watching television, and for a few seconds, Boyce appears onscreen in a clip from Jessie, the Disney Channel series where he played Luke Ross from 2011 to 2015.

Fans immediately picked up on the tribute, especially given Cameron Boyce’s previous role as Sandler’s onscreen son in Grown Ups and Grown Ups 2. Many took to social media to express their emotions.

One viewer posted: “Oh cool now I’m gonna be crying”
Another fan commented: “Adam put a tiny Cameron Boyce (played his son in Grown Ups) tribute in Happy Gilmore 2. Excuse me while I sob”
An X user lamented: “I didn’t even notice the tv the first time watching the movie. Aww I’ll watch it again to look out for it. That’s awesome that he did that though.”
A fan tweeted: “My heart. I watched it yesterday and got emotional over it … RIP Cameron Boyce.”
One web user wrote: “I just watched this last night and didn’t even catch it but now I’m CRYINGGGG”
Another posted with crying and broken heart emojis: “That was such a subtle, beautiful touch. Cameron’s legacy lives on in the smallest moments Adam really got hearts with that one.”
An online user also praised Adam Sandler’s quiet tribute: “He’s so good at treating the people he enjoyed the way they deserve.”

“So much more was on the way”: Adam Sandler mourned onscreen son Cameron Boyce with heartfelt words

Cameron Boyce passed away in 2019 at age 20 after suffering a seizure in his sleep. A family spokesperson later confirmed it was related to an ongoing medical condition.

Best known for Jessie, Descendants, and Mrs. Fletcher, he left behind a devoted fanbase and a deeply impacted Hollywood community.

Adam Sandler, who shared the screen with Cameron Boyce as Keithie Feder in the Grown Ups franchise, has honored him multiple times since his passing. Shortly after the news broke, Sandler wrote:

“Too young. Too sweet. Too funny. Just the nicest, most talented, and most decent kid around. Loved that kid. Cared so much about his family. Cared so much about the world.”

He continued:

“Thank you, Cameron, for all you gave to us. So much more was on the way. All our hearts are broken. Thinking of your amazing family and sending our deepest condolences.”

Adam Sandler previously dedicated his 2020 film Hubie Halloween to Boyce, who had originally been slated to appear in the movie.
