Wicked fans were thrown into a whirlwind this week as they spotted a mysterious image from the set of Wicked: For Good. The wasn't a full reveal—no elaborate costumes or dramatic poses. Instead, it showcased a shadowy glimpse of Ariana Grande’s Glinda and Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba's silhouettes. And, strangely enough, that was adequate.

For Good is set to conclude the cinematic adaptation of the Broadway classic, picking up where Part One left off and promising higher stakes, deeper emotions, and a final showdown in Oz. While fans have been eagerly waiting for promotional material, no one expected the rollout to begin in such an unanticipated manner.

The image that has now gone viral was likely captured behind the scenes, which showed shadows of Glinda and Elphaba cast onto a yellow-lit surface.

The unmistakable silhouette of Ariana Grande, with her signature high ponytail and a voluminous dress, stands next to Cynthia Erivo's iconic pose in Elphaba's pointed hat and flowing coat. Despite being just shadows, the presence of these two characters radiates like a surge of electricity.

The result? The energy is palpable. It may be the first unofficial teaser of Wicked: For Good, but it is certainly doing the most, having fans glued to the screen.

As one fan precisely noted:

As soon as the photo appeared on fan accounts and became viral across platforms like X, Instagram, and TikTok, the response was quick, observable, and full of feelings. And here you can find what fans had to say according to different sources:

@James wrote on X:

"Oh, we are ready for this."

@BarbMedia exclaimed on X:

"OH THEY WORKINGGG"

Another X user, @Mayla, commented:

"Let’s gooo queens."

@Soulbound mentioned on X:

"Wicked but make it silhouetted."

@Syd eagerly asked on X:

"How soon is it coming out?"

Rose wrote on X:

"I'm hoping the trailer is released quite soon."

The reactions ranged from emotional sobbing to deep outfits breakdowns, meaning that the spirit is of nothing but unadulterated excitement. If the aim was to stir the cauldron, it worked. Wickedly well.

Is this the start of the promo rollout?

Although there has been no official confirmation from Universal Pictures yet, fans are convinced that this picture is the first move in the carefully crafted promo for the second installment in the series.

Following the massive success of Wicked: Part One and its cultural impact, it wouldn't be surprising if the brand of promotion of For Good became more dramatic, starting with mysterious silhouettes and then slowly leading to enthralling theatrical magic.

Television advertising, a poster, or footage from the production set—whatever it might be, fans are surely on their toes now. After all, the witches of Oz are back, and the shadow that they have conjured is the most surreal thing ever.
