One Battle After Another is a forthcoming film in the action thriller genre. The film is penned and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, who has also produced it with Sara Murphy and Adam Somner. The film had its world premiere at Los Angeles' TCL Chinese Theatre on September 8, 2025. Warner Bros. Pictures will be releasing it theatrically on September 26.

Early reviews of One Battle After Another call it a masterpiece

After One Battle After Another premiered in Los Angeles, several early reviews emerged that praised the film. Discussing Films has called it one of the best films one may ever watch:

"Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER’ is the most radical movie released by a Hollywood studio in years, and one of the best movies you may ever watch."

Erik Davis has called it "an absolute triumph" and stated that Leonardo DiCaprio and others give memorable performances.

Jazz Tangcay called it a "phenomenal" film that is filled with "fantastic performances."

One Battle After Another is adapted from Thomas Pynchon's novel Vineland, which was published in 1990. The film focuses on former revolutionaries who come together to save one of their daughters from an old enemy. Letterboxd describes its official synopsis as,

"When their evil nemesis resurfaces after 16 years, a band of ex-revolutionaries reunite to rescue the daughter of one of their own."

Anderson started his directorial journey with the 1996 release Hard Eight. Since then, he has directed films like There Will Be Blood, Magnolia, The Master, and Licorice Pizza.

One Battle After Another will be released theatrically across cinema halls and in IMAX on September 26, 2025. It marks the first collaboration between Anderson and Leonardo DiCaprio.
