“Over-dramatic for no reason” — Internet slams Ricky Martin for defending Karol G while shading Dua Lipa, and others over Dazed controversy 

Ricky Martin is siding with Karol G as the video of her getting ignored by Dazed Fashion goes viral.

In a new video shared by the fashion account on TikTok, Karol G, Cardi B, Dua Lipa, and Hunter Schafer can be seen sitting front row at the Schiaparelli Couture AW25. However, only three of these four women's names were mentioned in the caption — all but the Colombian crooner's.

Upon catching wind of the same, Ricky Martin took to the comments section of the post to give his two cents:

“Excuse me, but who are the ladies sitting next to @karolg???”

However, fans are not so happy. Some are slamming him for allegedly trying to create tension between the women, as others point out that the songstress is not as popular outside Latin America. Here's how one fan reacted, for instance:

"Over-dramatic for no reason. Karol G is not known outside Latin America and Spanish speaking communities. Cardi B and Dua Lipa are bigger than her. Just because she has the streams doesn't mean she's big. She's a local Latin act."

The comments didn't end there:

"Excuse me, but who tf is ricky martin???" one fan dissed.

"Ricky Martin coming through with the ultimate shade and support at the same time," someone else pointed out.

"Why post them when you’re going to omit someone that’s rude. I think I love what Ricky did," another defended.

"Sorry @ricky_martin, but there's no need to ignore the other megastars. On the other hand, that's what you get when you force something; clearly, her team forced her into the event. What a tantrum she must have thrown over this... And they squeezed her so hard, she could barely sit down and felt like she was lying down in her chair..." a fourth user opined.

"These are talented artists. I don’t listen to KG but I see she has accomplished a lot on her own way. But to say who are the other ones is outrageous. We all know Dua Lipa is a successful artist and has been in the game longer than KG. I dislike when the media is bashing," another echoed.

"Globally speaking, karol g is more relevant than dua and cardi b, like that's a fact, like the number are there, she just finished her stadium tour while dua is still carrying on with her wedding cover band arena tour and cardi b can't tour because she's an influencer like," someone else added.

"It’s really not Dua Lipa’s or Cardi B’s fault that they are sitting next to a person who is not known in the middle like them, however this man came to ruin everything," yet another user noted.

Users were visibly divided, though many of them dissed Ricky Martin for allegedly trying to perpetuate animosity between the women, with some even pointing out that Cardi B deserved the least hate as she wasn't even seated to the immediate side of Karol G.

Hola! has reported that Karol G sported a sculpting gown that had a heart-shaped neckline, with elements that paid homage to Elsa Schiaparelli. It had 3D floral embroidery, a short white train, and a beaded fringe.

She opted for black pointed-toe pumps that had a classic T-strap with a satin finish. Her dress was reportedly featured in the Schiaparelli spring 2025 couture collection, which made its debut earlier this year.

As for her and Ricky Martin's bond, the pair recently collaborated on the songstress's teaser for her new album Tropicoqueta, alongside Anahí, Ninel Conde, and other prominent telenovela actors. In it, Martin acted as Karol's love interest, whom she had to fight for.

Nonetheless, the women at the show themselves displayed no animosity towards each other, as at one point, Dua Lipa was spotted whipping out her phone to snap a selfie with Karol G and Hunter Schafer. She then shared the selfie alongside a string of photos from the event on her Instagram account with the following caption:

"Breakfast in Paris with Schiaparelli 🪽 A morning touched by magic!!!! Congratulations @danielroseberry for a collection that felt otherworldly!! bold, beautiful and beyond!! thank you for having me 🤍”

Karol G also shared the selfie on her Instagram Stories, while the caption read:

"Moments that feel like a fairytale ✨ @schiaparelli. How beautiful it is when fashion excites you… Congratulations @danielroseberry for so much beauty with a purpose 🏹🤎 Thank you for letting me be part of your universe.”
