About Ozzy Osbourne
Born on December 3, 1948, Ozzy Osbourne was a legendary English singer and songwriter. Osbourne rose to fame during the 1970s as the heavy metal band Black Sabbath's lead vocalist. During this time, he adopted the nickname 'Prince of Darkness'.
Before being known as the Black Sabbath, members of the band Geezer Butler, Bill Ward, Tommy Iommi, and Ozzy Osbourne performed under the name 'Earth' in the year 1969.
Around 1972, Ozzy struggled with school. It was his passion for music that helped him get going. Ozzy Osbourne told the Associated Press in 2010:
“I left school with a little more education than when I first started going. Because of my dyslexia, I couldn’t learn. So, I was teased a lot by one of my sister about not bing able to read. It’s very shameful. If it wasn’t for The Beatles turning me onto music in a big way, I don’t know what I would have done. Music has been the main thing that got me out of the area, the place I was born.”
In 1973, the band released an album under their name, which became a commercial success.
Before marrying Sharon in the year 1982, who was his manager at the time, Osbourne had married Thelma Riley, with whom he shared three children: Louis Osbourne, Elliot Kingsley, and Jessica Osbourne. In 1982, Osbourne welcomed his son Jack with Sharon. The couple shares two more children named Aimee and Kelly.
Osbourne also struggled with drug and alcohol abuse and was fired from the band in the year 1980 because of the same.
