On August 29, TMZ released a scathing report alleging that Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson's relationship was fabricated for PR purposes. As rumors continue to swirl about the true nature of their relationship, insiders close to the situation are attempting to set the record straight.

While the prevailing sentiment online has grown to mirror TMZ's claims, dubbing their romance as an obvious publicity stunt to sell their movie, a reboot of police comedy The Naked Gun, a source close to the film shared with PEOPLE that,

"Everything between them has been genuine. Neither would ever take part in a publicity stunt. They have a great time. Neither of them needs the publicity.”

Another insider tells PEOPLE,

"Their relationship isn’t just for show. They have a real connection. There’s no incentive for either of them to stage something like this."

This information is in direct conflict with TMZ’s assertion that,

“In fact, we're told Pamela and Liam didn't even see each other from the time cameras stopped rolling in June 2024 until the press tour launched more than a year later, in July 2025.”

Neither Pamela Anderson nor Liam Neeson has made an official statement in response to allegations.

Interestingly, during the press junket for the film, Pamela Anderson sat with Entertainment Weekly for a cover story that was published in July. When speaking about her co-star, Anderson shared,

"I think I have a friend forever in Liam. We definitely have a connection that is very sincere, very loving. He's a good guy."

The former Baywatch star went on to add,

"He comes from theater and Schindler's List and has done over a hundred films. And I did things inside out and backwards, came from television, and then my personal life kind of overshadowed my professional life. It is funny: We all come to this place in different ways, but to be able to share this experience with him is very meaningful and such an honor."

It’s clear that Pamela Anderson holds Liam Neeson in extremely high regard and truly values their relationship, based on how she has communicated about him publicly.
