De Noche is the forthcoming film of Pedro Pascal. The actor has been doing several projects and is at his professional peak with titles like HBO's The Last of Us, A24's Materialists, and the recent Marvel superhero flick The Fantastic Four: First Steps, among others. He is in talks with director Todd Haynes to star in the upcoming film.

Pascal has been in demand in the last few years and has appeared in several mainstream films as well as television series. So let's find out more about his film with Haynes, which is currently in the initial stage of production.

Pedro Pascal in talks to star in De Noche

As per Variety, Pedro Pascal is currently in talks to star as the protagonist in a film called De Noche. The film will also star Danny Ramirez, and it's about two men who fall in love and move to Los Angeles in order to leave for Mexico. The story is set in the 1930s, and both characters are portrayed as corrupt policemen. The film is produced by Killer Films.

Earlier, Joaquin Phoenix was supposed to star in the lead role in De Noche. However, he left a few days before the shooting was scheduled to start in Guadalajara, Mexico. Its global distribution was already planned and sold around that time to M2K Film. At the Marrakech Film Festival, Haynes spoke about Phoenix's exit.

“What happened this summer was tough but the film itself and the script itself may resurrect in a different form someday.”

Phoenix backed out when the sets were already built in Mexico for De Noche. He was reportedly uneasy with the film's s*x scenes and decided to back out at the last minute. Christine Vachon, one of the film's producers, said:

“The idea that [Todd’s] time was wasted and that a movie is not a result of those years of working closely with Joaquin… That is the tragedy to me and that I can’t get over, that we as a cultural community, lost the opportunity to have another movie by Todd Haynes. That is just criminal.”

Pascal will be reprising the role of Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic in Marvel’s upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday. The film is helmed by the Russo brothers and is slated to release on December 18, 2026. It is a part of the MCU's phase six and will be followed by Secret Wars.
